This Saturday 20 September from 11am - 3.30pm at The Turner House in Penarth - a day of photography from around Wales in the form of unique self-published photozines and photographic prints - many available to buy.

Free to attend, the event runs from 11am to 3.30pm and will fill both gallery levels with over a dozen tables of self-published photozines and photographic prints by:
Marc Arkless • Julie Cook • Clwb Ffoto • Phil Cope • Yasmin Crawford • John Crerar • Pete Davis • Glenn Edwards • David Mayne • Ron McCormick • David Morgan-Davies • Walter Waygood • Julian McKenny and Mohamed Hassan

Visitors are encouraged to bring their own photozines (finished or in-progress) to share, and to contribute to the ever-growing BOX OF ZINES – a travelling collection of Wales-related photozines showcased at festivals and events.

The day also marks the launch of CHAOTIC, the first publication from Offline Journal’s CHAOS project with Marc Arkless, Nate Davies, Mohamed Hassan, David Mayne, Bartosz Nowicki, Owen Pritchard, and Tamsin Stirling. This inaugural 48-page issue presents new work in progress with texts, designed to spark critique and discussion through follow-up online sessions. Copies will be available on the day.

Browse zines, prints, and discounted back issues, meet fellow photographers from across Wales, and enjoy relaxed conversation amid the 2025 OPEN Exhibition at Turner House.

Ron McCormick's latest book DAYZ OUT IN PORTHCAWL, has McCormick observe the annual Porthcawl Elvis Festival in full colour, getting up close and personal with the many thousands of Elvis Presley fans, tribute acts, and day-trippers who make the annual pilgrimage to the South Wales seaside town of Porthcawl. A new 68-page book of his photographs, has been produced by Fistful of Books.com and will be available at a new exhibition of his photographs opening at Clwb Ffoto this Saturday 26th April in Newport, South Wales. Exhibition runs from 26th April - 7th May 2025.

It's been a very difficult few weeks since I heard that my very good friend, Newport artist Clive McCarthy had died unexpectedly. I knew him well for over 40 years since I moved to Newport in 1980. Clive had been ill for some months but was responding well to treatment and except for hospital visits he hadn't left the house for many months but we talked every couple of days and I made occasional visits to his home.
So the news came as a great shock as we had a long telephone conversation earlier that day, discussing plans for the future. We had collaborated on many projects over recent years and were regular drinking buddies visiting our favourite pubs around Newport. I will miss him deeply as will his family and his many friends from around the world and South Wales.
The Funeral will be held on Tuesday 11th June, Gwent Crematorium, Cwmbran at 3.30pm.

Shocked by the news yesterday, that my good friend Tim (Bamber) Wiliams had died unexpectedly. A regular at McCann's Rock N Ale Bar and my local The Red Lion Stow Hill, where he was a fixture at the bar. Tim was a great character and will be fondly remembered by all.
