Just spent a few days at Cultybraggan Camp and couldn’t fault the accommodation. Loads of photographs to follow and bizarrely the high majority of these were taken on a phone instead of the grown up cameras.

Went down to the Broughty Ferry on Saturday for a wee bit of dolphin hunting and unfortunately not so lucky on this occasion.

What did catch the front of the three cameras at my disposal was just as interesting. The visit started with wee, possibly lost gulimot sitting by the castle on the sand as the tide was going out. My 300mm long lens was good enough to keep me far enough away from the bird. The guliemot was popular with lots of people trying to get a selfie in between its continuous grooming cycles. In the distance, near Monifieth, was The Georg Stage, a 42-meter (138-foot) fully rigged training ship. it was a bit of a struggle for the 300mm.

Going round to the harbour at the other side of the castle there was plenty opportunities for a photo opportunity with both Taymara - Tay River Trips and SaltDog Marine still running (if you were on the boats between 4-6pm you might be on some of these photos).

Plenty of fishing going on although not from dolphins but plenty of people out with bait, fishing rods and plenty time on their hands. The excitement continued to build when a photographer arrived in amongst those who were fishing and snapped a few photos of a new bride and groom! (congratulations to you both and well done to the photographer taking photos with all those rods, reels and hooks along with a wedding dress and kilt. What could possibly go wrong?). With my health & safety guaranteed I snapped a few shots from distance.

I don't usually do street photography unless I am in Edinburgh during the festival but while out on Dolphin Watch on Saturday I couldn't not take this photo of a wedding photographer, taking photos of the Bride & Groom down at Broughty Castle overlooking the River Tay.

To save spoiling the party, I have put my logo up over the happy couple but i think you will see the point of the photo. All the fisherman and in another photo, tourists around and not one batted so much as an eyelid during the shoot. A little bit different from the weddings i have done in the last few years where busy locations are solution focussed opportunities to work as fast and cleanly as possible when shooting.

Never did see any dolphins on the day but hopefully I will get the Dolphin Lookout Badge from some authority and my time to see them is coming sooner rather than later.

Great shot of a busy day on the River Tay for SaltDog Marine and Badger from Taymara - Tay River Trips. No dolphins near the castle for me. Hope the trips were luckier. More photos to follow later.
