What a great few hours wandering around day 1 of the amazing Durham Fire & Ice Festival. Spectacular doesn't even come close. Well worth a visit. It's on again on Saturday Feb 28th from 10am to 5.30pm and it’s all free.

Yesterday would've been Alan Hull's 81st birthday. Back in 2012 I took these pics at the unveiling of a plaque to commemorate Alan and his links with the City Hall where he played over 120 times. It was a great day with Ray Jackson coming home to belt out a few Lindisfarne songs. 2 faces in the crowd pics are also sadly missed, former Lindisfarne member Charlie Harcourt and the genius that was Geoff Wonfor.

Embers of Byker is here for a second night — a magical outdoor performance featuring Elsie, a beautifully crafted dragon of bronze, gears, and flame.

Meet Elsie — a mechanical dragon brought to life by Paka the Uncredible, with live music composed by Jeremy Bradfield and performed by John Pope and Faye MacCalman.

🔥 Music, fire, and movement come together in a shared moment of wonder for all ages.
