Lots of people understandably want older siblings included in some newborn sessions.
This doesn’t mean the older sibling/s need to be in every picture. In fact most of the session revolves around the newborn.
I usually aim to do pictures with siblings in first, this means that children aren’t getting bored sitting around waiting, and can then watch them, or go and play whilst we do the newborn pictures. It also means we get a second chance on the end if little one is struggling at the start of the session.
I usually do sibling picture with baby on the beanbag. This means that the older sibling can get nice and close to baby so we get that beautiful closeness, without them struggling to hold the newborn up.
I usually try to keep sibling pictures short so that children aren’t getting sick of staying still and posing for pictures. And it can sometimes be worth bribing with snacks, hiding snacks inside of baby’s clothes, or hiding stickers.
