An incredibly close encounter with an otter.

Scrolling through old archives has me seriously wanting to get back up to Scotland for them again.

Straight down the barrel.Couldn’t quite believe it when this short-eared owl turned and flew straight at me.

Are they not the biggest ear tufts you've ever seen?

I've never seen red squirrels with bigger ear tufts than those in Poland.

The tawny owl pair have been very active all weekend.

I still wonder if chicks are nearby, or if they’re thinking about a late clutch.

Roe deer buck at sunset

Roe deer are one of those species I don’t usually set out to find, but they have a habit of just appearing when I’m sitting quietly somewhere. This one did exactly that, and gave me quite a shock when I turned around.

Another visitor to the tawny box early this morning. This barn owl has been making the rounds over the past few nights, visiting both the tawny and kestrel boxes, maybe it’s time to install a dedicated barn owl box.

Fantastic to finally see two tawny owls at the box I installed

For the past few weeks there’s only been one visitor, and last night I had a feeling a second bird had arrived, this morning confirmed it.

Fingers crossed this could mean a late breeding attempt… unless they’ve already got chicks nearby.
