It seems that this photo I took for The Sentinel back in 1993 has become quite well known in certain circles. It shows Stoke City legend Mark Stein scoring the match winner in the first of a two leg league cup fixture on 22nd September of that year. I keep seeing it on the tinterweb in all sorts of football articles, on YouTube cards, pub walls and I now hear it's also been immortalised in a painting. On a technical footing, not one of my best sports photographs ( back in the day of manual focus and dim night match lighting at the old Victoria Ground) and I was also disappointed not to have captured the ball rifling off his foot, but it was a rocket of a shot and I was pleased to capture this moment. It seems Steino himself has also treasured the print I gave him the next day and he lists this as one of his favourite goals. There's me at the approximate moment of the capture from the tv screen grab of the goal and my photo of the goal. Happy days 😊
