Paddy ❤️ It's been a year now since I lost my beautiful boy and my heart shattered into a million pieces. I couldn't post about him at the time and it's still difficult a year later but I've made myself edit a few of the pictures that have been sitting on my hard drive for a while now, 3 of them taken last year after his cancer diagnosis and the one with Dora from about 4 years ago. All of them mean the world to me as did he when he was here and still does now. Like all dogs he was unique and like all dogs, yours and mine, those that are gone and those that are with us now he made the world a better place. I miss everything about you Paddy and that will never stop 💔

Sleep tight Ronnie (Veronica) 19/11/2012 - 28/7/2022 💔 I held you as you took your very first breath and at 8 weeks old I entrusted your care to Scotty Jones who gave you absolutely the best life filled with fun and love and adventure. You've had an amazing life and we are all devastated. I hope you are running round with your sister Ruby and your 'uncles' Paddy and Mac. Much love from me and your mum Dora.

Ewok alert on . I was lucky enough to be able to photograph Bry the Brussels Griffon a week or so ago. This 5kg bundle of fur absolutely rocked his session and had me utterly captivated. He might be short in stature but he has a huge personality. Adore him. Would love to see your photos of dogs that look like they've walked off a film set!

Continuing with photos from my trip to Scotland, another of the epic shoot locations organised for us was Glencoe which is just off-the scale wild and beautiful and it was a perfect backdrop for photographing Winter the very gorgeous Bernese Mountain dog. Massive shout out to his mum Brenda (and also her friend Judy who was handling Winter's sister Summer for some more of our group). These ladies went above and beyond on a pretty wet afternoon scrambling across boggy moorland and wading through streams to get to the best spots to photograph the dogs - you and the dogs were superstars :-)

Wanted to share more from my recent Scotland trip on the epic pet photography retreat. I don't do many black and white conversions but I'm quite happy with how this turned out even if it breaks a lot of the 'rules' around b&w images. I think the the colouring of Marley and Milo the border collies and the texture of the old stone of the castle work well together in this - what do you think - do you like it this way or would you have preferred to see colour?

One of the many many highlights from my recent adventure on the epic Barklander pet photography retreat was when this beauty turned up for our very last shoot at the ruins of Finlarig Castle just outside Killin in Perthshire. For anyone who knows me then having a boxer to photograph just absolutely made my day and brought a lump to my throat. 9 year old Keela was a superstar and I got to get lots of boxer cuddles and kisses too. Huge thanks to her owner Karen who had travelled miles to bring Keela as a model - I think you and I are kindred spirits when it comes to boxers 😍

It’s been a while... Kind of lost my way a bit with the photography when my beloved Paddy died in September and Dora got diagnosed with multiple cancers 5 weeks later – knocked the stuffing right out of me. It’s been a tough and sad few months with two lovely human friends also very sadly passing away this year. I’ve done a few sessions in those quiet months with some lovely dogs and their owners and that plus attending Barklander last month has really given me a wake up call as to why I love doing this and why I should pick up my camera more.

Barklander was a 5 day pet photography retreat in the glorious Scottish Highlands where you live and breath dogs and photography for the entire time with a whole bunch of students and world renowned dog photography instructors. It had been deferred from May 2020 for obvious reasons but boy was it worth the wait – I’ve had the most fabulous time with wonderful people and the most amazing dogs and I’ve learnt from the best.

Our first shoot was by the shores of Loch Tay and this is Obi the Shiba Inu. Obi and his ‘sister’ Aja and their owners had travelled some distance to be with us so huge thanks to them for that and for being so patient while we were asking them to pose the dogs in various places at the loch side. Obi can be seen here over looking the loch because what would a dog photography retreat in Scotland be without a dog photographed by a beautiful loch 😊
