That you need to 'get lucky'.

You don't

You need:

-Flexibility

-Local knowledge

-Someone watching conditions propoerly

That's the difference between 'we went and didn't see anything' and
'that was the best thing I've ever seen!'

The key isn't gear its:
-Being in the right place
-At the right time
-Knowing what you are looking for

I watched someone see the aurora for the first time.....and they just stood there in silence.

Not because they didn't know what to say but because nothing they said would've done it justice.

This is why I do these trips.
Not for the photos.....but for the moment.

Last night we had a late show for Lady Aurora but most folks,qould have missed it if they weren't keen on the tips we use to capture them. Its always a test (each time, honestly!) to capture in such conditions as low level cloud, cloud bouncing off bright moon glow, and also if its really dark! The settings and tools used are different for each occasion and can really throw you off if youre using your phone! Happy to say I can trash you those things and will be locally on Satirday but I will be opening up a Zoom for the week after. Look for details here.
