https://ko-fi.com/motherwellwildlife Motherwell and surrounding towns and villages have a very high rate of all kinds of wildlife crime. 8 years ago we come across a dug-up badger sett and from there decided to give the wildlife in our area a helping hand. Lobby to have wildlife warning signs on dangerous roads. Inve

stigate developments by reading ecological reports and ensuring they abide by the law. liaising with developers, MSP, S, MP’s, councillors, sspca, badger Scotland and more
Annalise planning permission along with ecological reports. We then visit sites before the development starts to ensure there is no wildlife (including badger setts, bird nests, bats, etc) that isn’t mentioned in any of the reports. Make the public aware of their actions and the effect those actions have on wildlife. We do this online and with posters. Check badger setts and install cameras to prevent those setts from getting dug and badgers removed for baiting. Infiltrate the hunting community and gain the confidence of certain individuals. This allows us to gain valuable information on who is hunting, where, how, and when. Patrol areas day and night where we believe hunting is due to take place. In times of heavy snow and ice, we give wildlife a helping hand with food,

We now also have an active community that is helping us protect the wildlife in our area. Everything we do comes out of our own pockets so if you would like to help us we have a PayPal, no matter how small, everything helps. Paypal is

We spend days looking for snares but it not because we got nothing better to do , it's because we live in a area where they are used and used often , last year was our worst year of 14 snares , this year only 3 . The thought that out there somewhere a badger, fox or anything else is caught in a snare , waiting to die which could take weeks is enough to keep me going . We have had some horrible cases in our county where wildlife has been left to die slowly and in pain in these things , one badger was said to be in one for 2 months , a deer for a month .
Yes they are illegal but the ones that caused all this pain were already illegal.

Must have been 15 years ago now , I come across this sett that's clearly been dug , they even left a coat on the tree and a spade .
This along with the pipe sett on ravenscraig being destroyed by metal theves , and another sett that developer had dug a trench through for pipes , this made me realise that nobody is protecting these badgers and something needs to be done .

‼️ RSPCA Appeal ‼️ | Sherburn-in-Elmet, near , North Yorkshire: dead hedgehog found burnt in a park.

The mammal was found near the remains of a small bonfire in Eversley Park, Sherburn-in-Elmet, on Saturday, May 30, and reported to the RSPCA.

The RSPCA’s deputy chief inspector, Ollie Wilkes, who has been investigating the incident, said there were reports of several fires started in bins in the area, adding: “It’s very distressing to think that a hedgehog may have been a victim of cruelty.

“These animals are protected by several pieces of legislation under UK law and we would like to remind everyone that it is a criminal offence to harm or deliberately mistreat them.”

He said the hedgehog was lying about eight feet away from a patch of earth which had been “deliberately set on fire”.

“The animal had substantial burns to approximately 90 per cent of its body and a large open wound on its chest and abdomen which are likely to have been caused by the carcass being predated.

“Because of the condition of the body it’s not been possible to establish whether the hedgehog was alive or dead prior to being burnt. We are therefore keeping an open mind as to what has happened and would urge anyone with first-hand information about this incident to contact us.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the RSPCA's inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018 quoting incident number 01816319.
