What an absolutely awesome adventure!

A friend and I decided on a random 4 and half hour drive into Scotland to look for some autumnal views and this is the result. On the way up, we could see a bank of fog had formed and couldn't wait to stop and capture the atmospheric view.

Our initial plan was to only go to Pitlochry and the surrounding area but the thought of red deer being only an hour or so away was far too tempting so off we went towards Aviemore!

The weather couldn't have been any better, bright blue skies, golden light and the colours were breathtakingly beautiful.

All in all, leaving the house at 6am and getting home just before 11pm was definitely well worth it 😊

Last night I headed up to Kielder after work to enjoy some of the darkest skies the UK has on offer.

Kielder has undoubtedly one of the darkest sky areas I've had the pleasure to sit under and enjoy looking up for hours and hours.

The structure in the image is called Blakehope Nick and is part of the wider sculptures around Kielder. It's on the forest drive and gives a great vantage point as it sits on a hill just over 450m.

I've been here many times to get this image and something always seemed to get in the way or go wrong. The first time was me not having the lens warmer turned on and only realised after sitting for four hours that I'd only captured the first ten minutes of the shoot 😂. The second time I stopped when the aurora suddenly kicked off so that took priority 😉. Third time lucky this time though! 😁.

Possibly one of the best timelapse of the aurora I've ever taken! 1800 images taken over around 5 hours of Aurora activity!

The cloud covered most of the sky at the beginning so I thought hope was lost however I sat and waited patiently to see if it would clear.

As you can see in the video, the cloud disappeared and made way for an amazing display topped off toward the end of the video but a burst of activity.

Such an incredible evening! 😍

Absolutely incredible evening watching the aurora from St Abbs Head tonight! I've just got home so this is a very quick edit of one image from almost 2,000 taken.

Initially it looked like my gamble to head further north might not have been a good idea. Cloud blocked the initial burst of activity but I waited patiently and the clouds rolled away an hour or so later. I set my camera off just after 7pm and stopped it just after midnight which hopefully means it'll make for a great video! I'm super excited to see what it looks like but for now I need sleep 😴 🛌

An after work trip to the Drake Stone at Harbottle last night. There had been a lot of talk about a possibility of the aurora displaying but as soon as saw the BBC had jumped on the bandwagon, I knew it wasn't going to be as big as it could be 😂.

I got to the spot, had a little check on where to be and decided I'd go for the milky way instead of taking my chances with the aurora.

Strangely though, even with crystal clear skies, I had to bail earlier than planned as it started raining. I was already starting to feel the cold and getting wet with a cold blustery wind is not sensible so off I went back to the car and called it a night.

Let's see what tonight brings and where I end up too! 😉

The result from Wednesday night's last minute dash for some milky way practice.

For a place that's right on my doorstep, I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to give this a go but I got there in the end.

Normally when people go and do an astro shoot there's an unwritten rule to have minimal torch use for obvious reasons.

However, no matter how hard you try, the disco astro gang always seem to make an appearance! 🕺😂

I'd normally delete these frames or scrap the video entirely but with the added music it made me chuckle so I've left it in.

While waiting for the sun to set and begin the astro shoot last weekend, I decided to get some shots of the stunning Harthope Valley with my drone.

It's been a while since I've used it and I just couldn't resist getting a better view of the valley and the fantastic colours. The last shot of these gives a strange perspective as the drone used a built in panoramic mode to capture a wider shot. It kind of distorts the valley and surrounding hills but for some reason, I quite like it.

Such an amazing place to visit with so many different hiking routes to explore too.

I posted a single image earlier from last night's attempt at the harvest moon (+2 days). My first attempt was clouded out on Saturday evening so I'm over the moon (excuse the pun 😂) with this attempt.

I don't know what it is but there's something magical about waiting to see if the planning has paid off or if mother nature will stop you in your tracks.

When it all comes together, it makes all the other attempts worthwhile and all the sweeter too.

The more you try, the more lucky you get! 😉

Second attempt at the moonrise last night. My first attempt on Saturday evening was looking out to Lindisfarne Castle on Holy Island but unfortunately, a bank of cloud on the horizon hid the moon from me until it rose higher up and peaked out in a gap. I've added it as even though the moon isn't where I wanted it, I still quite like the image.

This time round I had my fingers and toes crossed and got a huge buzz when the moon slowly appeared from behind the hill.

The structure on the hill is of the radar station Brizlee Wood near Alnwick. A prominent feature that lends itself well to the moon rising behind it.

I've taken around 1,000 images to create a timelapse which I'll share once I've had chance to put it together. Keep your eyes peeled for the video coming soon 😉
