I'm always chasing good light, curious wildlife, big skies, and small details - if it looks interesting, I’m probably pointing a camera at it! πŸ˜„

Cotswold Exploring πŸ”Ž

A wonderful circular walk taking in the ancient burial mound of Belas Knap, across Cleeve Common and views over Winchcombe. All around still looking parched from the incredibly long hot and dry summer.

Solar Eclipse β˜€οΈ

A rather hastily assembled setup to try catch the Solar Eclipse this evening. A Gobe ND1000 filter, with a Gobe variable NDX filter, stacked on top of a UV filter, just about dimmed the sun enough to photography with my Canon EOS 5D MK IV, Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM & Canon EF 1.4x III Extender combination.

I was just 3 years old the last time we had an eclipse this full, on the beach in Jersey of the Channel Islands. That time, it was almost fully dark and I remember people with glow sticks running up the beach as an eerie chill descended through the air. It wasn't much like that this time, however it was a chance to capture some history regardless.

Oldborough Farm 🌾

A view looking on to Oldborough Farm, from the top of Todenham road just off the Fosse Way, as the sunsets over the Cotswolds. The air somehow clean and clearer after a much needed drop of rain.

Sunsets & Rainbows

A quick dash up the Fosse this evening to overlook Todenham and beyond. I just missed the best of the Rainbow at its strongest but a magnificent view regardless.

Luscious Langdale 🌳

Colours of green not seen for a while, given the ongoing drought and heatwaves, here in The Cotswolds. However, a little look back to a trip in the Lake District and the Langdale Valley is a reminder of the rich colours that we are more accustomed to seeing.

Carnival Atmosphere!

Alexandra Palace played host to the usual organised-chaos of the Red Bull Soapbox Race! 52 teams competed with their mad-cap contraptions, to score not just a fast time down the hill, but collect points on their designs, and a 20 second performance. Some 17,500 lined the course enjoying the Great British carnival atmosphere!

The Flycatchers Return!

After spending the winter in either Africa or south western Asia, the Spotted Flycatcher (Muscicapa Striata) is one of our later migratory birds. Our eyes, up at Batsford Arboretum & Garden Centre, have been on the look out for these rather overlooked birds for a few weeks and today they have begun to occupy the nest boxes along the Victorian Walled Garden.
