I hope you'll forgive this slightly self-indulgent re-posting of another old picture, but I was looking for something else and thought it interesting enough to have another run out. It looks unearthly, but it's actually Worthing seafront with the tide going out on a winter's afternoon...

I took this photo maybe seven or eight years ago when I was still working in London and passing through Clapham Junction every day. It was only taken on my phone and the light wasn’t great, but I like the polished tracks creating a series of leading lines into the distance, and the flat greyness reminds me of the tedium of the daily commute, prompting me to reflect on how lucky I am to be out of it…

The final image of a trio taken from a photoshoot with Bren and Grace. I was pleased with how we were able to capture some wonderful autumnal light and colour as a backdrop to Grace's relationship with her trusty steed.

Following on from last night's post, featuring Grace and her trusty steed, Bren, another shot from the series for your consideration. I'll probably pop one more up tomorrow, but if you'd like to see a small collection of images from the shoot, visit my online portfolio (link in the comments).

I might have been a bit quiet with posts on here, but that doesn't mean I have been completely idle with the camera. I've just finished a project with Grace and Bren, taking advantage of some autumn sunlight to illustrate the bond between horse and rider. It was a busy morning and we got far more great shots than we had any right to hope for, so I'm grateful to Grace and her mum, Christina, for permission to share a couple of them here.

I've been trying for a while now to capture the sheer violence of hot metal meeting water as our farrier, Goffy, cools and tempers a set of horseshoes. I'm not sure I'm there yet, but I think there's enough in this shot to like for me to post it.

Another work in progress (as I know this is only the first time I'm going to visit this subject) - Before I became in involved with horses, I had no real concept of how emotionally intelligent they are, and eyes are. after all, the windows to the soul. Here Cooper is having his shoes changed and, if you look closely, you can see Goffy, our farrier, and the farm that is Cooper's home...
