Old Palace Chester
What can I say, just WOW. In 11 years of wedding photography I have not come across a wedding venue that I feel I need to write a review. However this venue and the staff, hit the nail on the head. If I was to choose somewhere to get married this would be it. Based right in the city centre of Chester, the stunning venue sits next to the river. The staff are so attentive to the wedding party, they have to be, it’s their job. But behind the scenes they are a slick, cohesive, bubbly happy team that want to do everything they can and put their heart and soul to ensure that every person here is happy. I have been asked my numerous staff if I need a drink, coffee or water. They just seem caring about everyone that comes through their gates.
Now on to the food.. I have had a lot of food in a lot of venues, but nothing like this. Pressed Pork belly, with celeriac, potato with a fried egg, followed by the main course which was a beef Wellington, cooked to perfection with confit potato, roasted onion and a red wine jus. Sublime. Spacious and classy 5* wedding venue!

After my food I was asked if everything was ok and that I enjoyed it? I gave my comments and I was told they would be passed on to the chefs. Moments later I was brought a dessert as a thank you from the chef. Rum, ice cream, shortcake and salted caramel, which was Devine!
I later met the talented chefs, whom discussed the making of the dishes, including the detail of 3 days to make the Jus on the beef wellington!!
The Venue has an outdoor BBQ are a with a big wood fired pizza oven. The wedding party had BBQ food for their night do. Burgers, sausages and chicken kebabs. Burgers looked amazing, The meat came from a butcher whom supplies other 1 star Michelin restaurants.
The unfortunate thing, is that this is a wedding venue only, so unless you are getting married or a guest or a contractor, then this post would a not for you 😉
