Hello! It's been a while. I hope you're keeping well 🙂

Firstly, I'd like to say a proper farewell as a photographer. My last photo shoot took place around this time last year and I am sad to know this chapter is now officially completed 😥

This job gave me an amazing opportunity to express myself creatively, do what I love and meet fantastic people along the way. A shout out and a huge THANK YOU to all my clients! It was a privilege to be trusted to capture important milestones for you! I loved documenting your special moments as it gave me a great personal satisfaction as well as reward.

Secondly, I'd like to let you know that my next professional step is related to wellbeing and mental health. I have requalified as a counsellor studying along side my photography business since 2017.

I am a fully qualified therapist and currently specialise in supporting staff at NHS - a place where people absolutely love doing what they do but often find the environment very stressful.

I have my private practice offering sessions online with some face to face availablity from my counselling room near Milton Keynes, Bucks.

To promote my private practice I've started new insta account Natalia Thompson • Therapist • MBACP] where I am sharing some useful ideas how we can help ourselves cope with stress and life challenges and be more resilient through self-compassion.

While regrettably I am not able to work with people I am already connected with due to ethical reasons, I have some availability otherwise if you know someone who needs help.

Please feel free to follow Natalia Thompson • Therapist • MBACP]
I look forward to staying connected ❤️

Family is everything. That's my credo. I feel so privileged I get to photograph some beautiful family and relationship milestones. I was with Danielle and Nick since they were organising their wedding a few years ago. Then I photographed Elaine and Nader (Danielle's parents) officially tying the knot. And now I met Theo, who was an absolute joy to photograph. There's something deeply satisfying about seeing life stories through my camera.

I know it's been a while since I posted. My professional journey might not be as connected to photography these days as it used to, but I still take family shoots and occasional weddings.

Something made me blush a lot yesterday.. and I feel I need to apologise.

I am really sorry for my remarks about the town of Luton in my last post. I edited the original text yesterday, after it was pointed out to me (and rightly so) that it sounded rather disrespectful to anyone living in Luton, in particular people who supported my business.

It was an oversight on my part. My main thought when I was posting was that the Luton Hoo Hotel's architecture is out of the typical style of the area. Unfortunately, the tone of my comment was very judgemental. I regret I chose the words I did.

I know that some of my past clients are from the area and I sincerely apologise for the remarks I made about Luton.

A good lesson for me and a reminder to be more sensitive when I write!

Much love x

How weird is it for most of us to stay in on what looks like a gorgeous sunny day here in the UK?!

I've already spring cleaned our small garden this morning. What a blessing to have any size garden these days! And with all the garden centres closed, I looked at every and each random bloom (including the weeds) in the garden from a different perspective. Made me appreciate each and every one of them 🌸

This morning I realised that for the first time is many years I'm not excited about the spring. I actually forgot it's spring already! With all the sad news and new rules in place for the first time I'm not feeling any inspiration during this awakening season..
On the other hand, as we now are staying at home as a family 24/7 I feel more connected with my loved ones. I'd never thought we'd have an opportunity like this before and it definitely feels like an experiment!
In other news as I've got more time on my hands I'm going through some old photos. It's a perfect opportunity to blog what I didn't have time for in the past :)
Looking back at those photos make me think how different things were only a fraction of time ago. So many changes have happened in so little time! And those who are in the midst of planning a wedding are going through some tough times right now. So much uncertainty and so much to consider.. Of course we're all in the same boat right now and everyone's life is/will be affected in one way or another by the new reality.
Much love X

Today I spoke to someone and they commented on missing seeing the tulips I used to photograph and post every now and then.

I reflected and thought, well I'm not into photographing flowers that much anymore.

But that comment stayed with me. And when I saw my dry old hydrangea I've been keeping on the kitchen windowsill I thought to myself, how photogenic you are! Every time I look at you I want to take a photo of you. Your petals are so mesmerising and captivating. But I used to dismiss that thought as something unimportant.

So today I didn't. And oh boy, my heart is filled with joy and inspiration!

Thank you my dear for those words today ❤

❤️ Share some love ❤️

It's not easy for me to write these words, but there is no easy way of talking about it.

My marketing sucks.

I think the reason I had a relatively successful career was mostly because of my genuine passion for photography. I was eager to learn, I had a flexible approach, I blogged a lot. I couldn't NOT take photos and show off, if that makes sense. But generally speaking my marketing has always been something in the lines of "I don't have time for that".

Things have been changing for me recently and some of you may know that I am now developing a new career in mental health. I'm re-training as a counsellor. This is where my heart belongs now.

I feel excited about the new opportunities my new passion is going to bring. But at the same time I don't feel that I am ready to let my creative career go just yet. I feel there is still a lot I can give to people through my love for photography. After all, we live in the age when having a portfolio career is a valid option and we don't have to choose just one path. Right?

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I am a bit scared and I need your support.

I wonder if you'd be willing to share some love today and help me with my marketing?

If you're my past client I will be super grateful if you could spare a moment and tell my prospective clients what it was like to work with me on one of the recognised platforms:

Google https://g.page/r/CYu9S3BMsYqQEAg/review (this link will take you to my Google reviews)

Or if you don't have a Google account you can do it here on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pg/NatashaThompsonPhotography/reviews

(If you can do both you're a super human being and it also shows how good your Ctrl+C Ctrl+V skills are! 🙃 )

It took me awhile to write this post, apologies if the thoughts aren't looking straight. I don't know if it's obvious, but photography is still very important to me and I just don't want to lose it because I don't put enough effort into doing the selling part..

With all my love and appreciation to all amazing people I met on my journey and was lucky to work with 🙏 Happy Valentine's day! ###

❤️
