As with the thousands of others, here is a shot(s) taken during the partial eclipse earlier this week.

The clouds moving in an out in my location made it a challenge to get a truly perfect sequence during the eclipse, but I am pretty happy that I got to see the event itself!

Another shot from Dunstanburgh Castle, Northumberland

This is shot at high tide on the Northern side of the Ruin, the remain of the Lilburn Tower still stand with significant prominence on the cliff edge.

Tide pools at Queen Margaret’s Cove, with the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle on the horizon.

The castle itself was built around 1313 by Thomas, Earl of Lancaster, partly as a statement of power against King Edward II.

The fortress later played a role in the Wars of the Roses, before gradually falling into ruin.

For me, though, it’s the landscape around the castle that makes this place such a pull from a photographic point of view.

The rugged volcanic rock, tidal pools and shifting North Sea light create an incredible foreground to those weathered medieval ruins..

The mountain range itself is UNESCO world heritage site, and it is easy to understand why with views like this

Cap De Formentor light house at sunrise.

The winding road of the Ma-2210 through Mallorca made this shot a challenge in just getting to the location to shoot.....combine that with the wild goats roaming around and it turned in to a fairly interesting experience all round!

The light trails were not the intention when I planned to visit the location, but sunrise was not looking great due to high humidity and cloud coverage right in the places I did not want it.

Multiple exposures are in the shot (6 in total), these were then stacked and blended in post-production.

Shot on Eston Hills, the cluster of birch trees making for good foreground with the different bands of orange from the decaying bracken and the rising sun making for interesting tonality through the image.
