Bryn Bach Pump Track from above!

A brilliant facility tucked away at Parc Bryn Bach in Tredegar, the pump track is a great place for riders of all ages and abilities to get out, build confidence and sharpen their skills.

Whether it’s your first time tackling the jumps and bends or you’re a more experienced rider looking to improve your technique, it’s the sort of place that can provide hours of fun, and probably tire the kids out in the process!

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Hoover Factory 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Today I took to the skies to capture what could be some of the final images of the iconic Hoover factory in Pentrebach before demolition changes the skyline forever.

Officially opened in October 1948, the Hoover factory quickly became one of the biggest employers in Merthyr Tydfil. Starting with a workforce of around 350 people, it grew to employ almost 5,000 at its peak during the 1960s and 1970s, making it the largest employer in the borough. During its 61 years of manufacturing, millions of household appliances, including washing machines, tumble dryers and dishwashers, were built here before production came to an end in 2009. The site then continued as a warehouse and distribution centre until its closure in 2025.

If you’re from Merthyr, there’s a good chance you, a parent, grandparent, or another family member walked through those gates at some point. Even Queen Elizabeth II spent time there!

Friendships were made there, careers were built there, and for generations it helped put food on the table for thousands of local families.

The site is now being demolished to make way for a major new housing development of over 400 homes, marking the beginning of a new chapter for this historic site.

As demolition gets underway, I wanted to preserve one last view of the building standing complete before it disappears into the history books.

🇬🇧 On Freedom’s Wings 🇬🇧

Captured from above today, this remarkable sculpture near Norton Disney is far more than just a piece of artwork.

On Freedom’s Wings is a full size steel representation of Lancaster R5689 “VN-N” of 50 Squadron, based at nearby RAF Swinderby. In September 1942, while returning from a mine-laying mission over the Baltic, the aircraft suffered the loss of both port engines and crashed just a few miles from where the sculpture now stands. Four of the seven crew members lost their lives.

Created by the Bomber County Gateway Trust, the memorial serves as a lasting tribute to the men and women of RAF Bomber Command and Lincolnshire’s rich aviation heritage. At 26 metres long with a 31-metre wingspan, the Lancaster appears to be banking gently towards home, creating a truly impressive sight from both the road and the air.

One of Mid Wales’ hidden gems!

From above, you can really appreciate just how beautiful Llandrindod Wells Lake is. Originally created as a boating lake during the Victorian era when the town was a thriving spa resort, it remains one of the most picturesque spots in the area today.

Whether you're looking for a peaceful walk, a pit stop at the cafe or you’d like to hire a boat on the lake, there's something here for everyone.

An aerial view of Brecon Castle, or as many know it today, the Castle of Brecon Hotel. This is the oldest hotel in Wales!

The original Norman castle was built around 1093 by Bernard de Neufmarché following the Norman conquest of Brycheiniog. It was built as both a military stronghold and a symbol of Norman power in Wales. Over the centuries the castle saw battles, destruction, rebuilding, and eventually fell into ruin.

Today, parts of the original stonework still remain within the hotel grounds, quietly overlooking Brecon just as they have for more than 900 years.

The hotel itself incorporates sections of the historic site, including the grand hall, which is believed to stand on or near part of the original castle structure.

It’s amazing to think how many generations have stood in this same spot before us.

There’s something pretty special about this little funfair in Brecon — it’s not just rides and lights, it’s history going back hundreds of years.

What rolls into town each May is actually a chartered fair, meaning Brecon was officially granted the right to hold it by royal permission all the way back in the medieval period. Long before dodgems and candyfloss, close to this spot would’ve been packed with traders selling livestock, wool, tools, and food — with people travelling miles on foot or horseback to be here.

The fair dates weren’t random either. They followed the rhythm of medieval life, tied to seasons and feast days like May Day, Midsummer, and Michaelmas. The one we still have today — the May Fair — is basically the last surviving piece of that tradition.

So when you look at it from above, it’s more than just a funfair…

It’s a 700+ year-old event that’s evolved from sheep and market stalls to flashing lights and music — but it’s still bringing people together in the same place.

Funny how some things never really change.
