Rainstorm will be 5 on August 1st!! Happy Birthday to me...

To celebrate I'm hosting a special Photowalk on August 1st at 6pm, the moment when the picture was released into the world.

I'll be taking you to the spot where the picture was taken, and discussing the moments leading up to its capture. We'll also be able to see the changes to the city's skyline.

Joining me will be the excellent Emma Fox Guided Tours, who will take us around the local area, telling stories of best selling music, transport and time revolutions, potatoes, Roman soldiers, the birth of Manchester, a viaduct garden, the Garrison pub and much more.

Everyone attending will get a free A4 digital print, with a handwritten message on the back.

I’ve returned in 2020 & 2021 to compare.
The original is still the best, reminding me that the collisions of coincidence needed for a successful picture can never be repeated.
