A full walk around a 19th century engine room, complete with the original miner's lift cage.

After a 1.4 km journey through a flooded horse level with bad air, we were rewarded with this incredible sight.

We've shared plenty of shorter clips from this place already, but this is the full walk around, giving you a much better look at the engine room, winding gear, sheave wheels and lift cage.

Another video from the 1.4 km underground journey to the 19th century engine room. This video shows a heavily propped section along the way, as well as some really lovely stonework.

*Sorry, we can't turn the gas alarm off - people keep asking! 😂

Just getting in on this beauty.. dug it out at beginning of the year really easy to get in on the entrance this is dug through the collapse after the entrace.. we followed the nature rock down till we hit the top of the adit.

Hopefully in next few weeks we will be in exploring

Wading through deep, freezing water in an abandoned lead mine on a 1.4 km journey to reach a 19th century engine room, complete with an original miner's lift cage.

The oxygen was reading around 17.3% for most of the journey, hence the annoying alarm in the background! 😂

We got lucky with the air on this trip. A decent 18.2% O₂ at the shaft, with a steady 17.1% throughout the horse level.

All worth it to see this incredible 19th century miner's lift cage still suspended in situ. There aren't many of these left underground in the UK, making it a seriously rare thing to see.

A 19th century hydraulic winding system, housed in an engine room reached via a 1.4 km horse level driven deep into the hillside of an abandoned lead mine.

This remarkable piece of machinery was once used to raise and lower the miner's lift cage, which is still attached to the original steel wire ropes. Seeing the entire winding system survive in situ is something truly special.

Exploring the flooded horse level of an abandoned lead mine on our way to the internal shaft and engine room, both home to some incredible surviving artefacts.

At the end of the video, you'll spot an original horse trough, which would have been used by the pit ponies working underground. A pretty cool piece of mining history that's rarely still in place.
