Manchester has a new park, and most people haven't found it yet.

St Catherine's Wood in Red Bank, just behind Victoria station, along the River Irk. Old woodland kept, more than 60 new trees, corten steps down the slope and paths that loop through the trees. I shot it two days before it opened in July.

It's the first piece of City River Park, a much bigger park planned along the Irk as Victoria North grows.

Have you been yet? I wonder how it looks in autumn?

City trails, two locations: Deansgate Square with the Mancunian Way traffic, and Colliers Yard in Salford with Trinity Way.

Hard to believe that only a few years ago both sites were car parks. Renaker has changed the skyline on both sides of the Irwell.

Old school, new life. Springfield Primary. I like these jobs because the old building does half the work. My part was finding the angles where the 1890s Victorian brick and the new green ironwork sit together without fighting.

I typed “patterns” into my self-hosted photo archive and this is what came back.

One of the best things about running my own image library is being able to search through years of architectural, property and construction photography in ways that weren’t really possible before.

Not by folder name. Not by client. Just by visual ideas.

This little gallery is all about patterns: façades, windows, lines, textures and repeated shapes. Some of these are obvious. Some are almost abstract.

Can anyone recognise any of the buildings just from the patterns? 🧐

Recently photographed this massive ground-up renovation by BAM. The building has been handed over, but internal work continues as the BBC gets ready to complete their fit-out. My brief was to document the glory of the building in its current "shell and core" state.
