Over the past year of running The Space, I’ve done a lot of learning, a lot of reflecting, and a lot of number crunching.
And if I’m honest, something about the pricing structure wasn’t sitting right with me.
The whole reason I started this studio was to create something more accessible. A space that felt welcoming, flexible, and actually useful for the kinds of creatives and small brands who don’t always have massive budgets behind them. But after looking properly at how bookings were working, it was clear something needed to change.
The old structure was making shorter sessions feel less accessible than they should have been, while full day bookings weren’t sustainable for the business either.
So I’ve updated the pricing to make under 4-hour bookings cheaper per hour, with a very small increase on longer sessions. I’ve also changed lighting and props to optional add-ons, because not everyone needs them and it felt unfair for people to be paying for things they weren’t using.
Paper backdrops and chairs are still included, lighting is now a flat £10 per booking, and props are a flat £20 per booking.
For Resident Creatives, nothing changes.
This first year has taught me so much, not just about business, but about what people actually need from a studio like this. We’ve had over 150 bookings in our first year, which honestly feels a bit wild, and I’m just really grateful to everyone who’s booked, shared, supported, and helped make The Space what it is.
Here’s to keeping it going, making it better, and building something that can last 🥂
