You’ll often hear photographers talk about how a shooting live event is stressful, and that you have little time to think etc etc. However, that is nonsense when you consider this work from the hugely talented Liz Perry. She sketched Elixia, Tristan and I chatting in a brief moment of calm at Malvern Pride. How cool is that?! ❤️❤️

Once again, it was a great privilege to photograph Malvern Pride this year. A very emotional experience, for me and many others who knew the wonderful man that was Nick Houghton, this Pride was very special indeed. Not only was it a celebration of a life devoted to our town, it was again a symbol of positivity which, in an ever intolerant world, is needed more than ever. The day was the very definition of inclusiveness that some in our society wish to drown in their oppressive and uneducated narratives. It was filled with love for all people, no matter what their gender or sexuality, something that the bigots will never appreciate nor understand. I hope that, in some small measure, the photographs show how beautiful this day really was.
Here's to many more Malvern Prides. 😘😘

It's always a great privilege when I get to shoot the Malvern Pride event, and this year was no exception. It was wonderful to see so many families and friends of the LGBTQ+ community gather together to both celebrate and remind everyone why Pride is so important in our increasingly unkind world. The atmosphere was amazing. ❤️❤️

Here are a few shots from the day. The complete set is available for free (as downloads) from my website and as prints at production cost. You can find them here:

Until next year, then? 🏳️‍🌈❤️

For the first time, we are hosting a Pride Parade in Priory Park as part of Malvern Pride.

Scheduled to commence at 3.30pm with B&B Beat's Rainbow All Star Street Funk Collective leading the way.

An ensemble of the finest bangers and bashers from up and down the borders and Marches, playing rhythms rad and trad, with a tune or two tossed in dedicated to Malvern Pride and dancing delight.

And in the lead up to the start of the parade, there will be plenty of opportunity to come and create your own banners and streamers to colour the park with rainbows.

Come join the parade...

Catching up on some scanning (the joy!) of film I shot while on holiday last month. Ilford HP5+ pushed 1 stop, shot in the Pentax 67. Here's the thing, it's not really much bigger than the traditional 6x6 frame that a lot of medium format cameras shoot, but somehow the negatives from the big Pentax always seem more impactful and give a sense of more detail. No idea why that is, but I love it anyway.

Another wet and cold day in Bristol, with what was planned as a street art shoot, but sadly finding some works overpainted or defaced. Just great to be out with the camera all the same.

New Blog Post!

This week's post is the introduction to Camera Stories, a series that looks at the cameras in my collection within the context of my personal experiences and the history of photography. These stories are neither guides nor reviews, but instead offer an insight into their importance to my as a collector and photographer. Enjoy!

A few from my trip to Bristol yesterday. Flat light, so a yellow filter fitted for conversion to B&W later. Also a real test of my elderly D300's weather sealing. 😂

New Blog Post!

After a few months off, this week's post talks about the project that has kept me busy all that time.

The Only Choice I Made is a collaborative social documentary that uses portraiture and personal testimony to reveal the people behind the LGBTQ+ 'community' labels, whose humanity is often overlooked by an increasingly polarised and hostile society. The series invites the viewer to see past the perception of people being different, when we are all part of a human community.

As always, feedback is welcome.
