Had a blast shooting some "business editorial" photography at a dental practice yesterday. Brief was to create a fresh archive or narrative-imbued imagery to drive their web, print, and social media marketing forward. Lovely stuff!

Layed out a nice little flyer for the good folk at Abacus Blinds & Awnings at Penenden Heath, Maidstone. Have worked with Michelle and Mark on their website (www.abacusblinds.co.uk) and marketing for a good few years now. Lovely people, fantastic clients, and they make fantastic blinds, too! :-D

We'll be managing the delivery of this flyer, too. There's still a need for analogue solutions in a digital world, there's so many elder people out there who just don't spend their lives online and, consequently, don't see all the wonderful marketing from local businesses on the web and social media!

If you would like to have a bespoke mailer produced, drop me a line. I can also arrange delivery to areas across North Kent. Drop me an email for a chat! [email protected]

Shot my first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament of the year at the weekend, the inaugural UK event for Grappling Industries. It was a really cool competition, very well-run and a truly professional set-up. I shot through the morning and have a gallery of my work online at:

If you're running any kind of combat sports or athletic event, I'm available for hire. Check out my large archive of work at www.jitsphoto.co.uk to get a feel for the quality of the imagery I produce. Drop me a line on 07581 143145 or [email protected] to have a chat!

Did a nice little product photography shoot last week, producing a set of images for an online retailer's new product line. Simple but classic stuff; high key photography on a white background, with some gentle retouching to really make the images pop and present the product in its best light. Take a look at a few of the shots, attached to this post.

If you're a retailer of any kind of product, you need to not rely on boring and usually low quality manufacturer-supplied imagery and invest in having some bespoke photography made. It really helps make your offer stand out to your potential customers. Drop me a line to have a chat about your product and how we can make some lovely pictures to push your sales forward! 07581 143145 or [email protected]

Another weekend gone, another Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competition shot! :-D

I really do enjoy photographing combat sports, capturing the passion and the energy of athletes in battle is very satisfying from a photographer's perspective, it's pure narrative!

Here's a gallery from Sunday's Brighton Open:

If you're hosting any kind of sporting event, think about how much value commercial photography could bring it, not only in having great images from the day to distribute to competitors but also in having a set of high-quality photographs to use in marketing future events. Give me a call to discuss your requirements: 01622 807867.

I was recently commissioned to produce a set of photography for a personal trainer's new website, and the site's just gone live in the last few days so time to share!

https://www.emmafitness.co.uk/

A core part of Emma's business is women's health and fitness, specifically new mothers. Emma runs regular "buggy fitness" sessions and I tagged along to one at Mote Park in Maidstone. Following the group around the park as they completed their circuit was good fun and pretty strenuous; they were moving at a fair old pace and for much of it I was in front and running backwards to photograph the group face on! We dropped in to Emma's studio afterwards to capture a few images representing other aspects of her practice and that was considerably less physically demanding for the photographer! :)

Here's a selection neat images from the day. Please do check out Emma's website to see how my photography can be used as an integral part of digital design. If you own a small business and you're looking at having a new website made, drop me a line to talk about making some photography to help it really look good.

I've photographed a lot of construction industry related firms over the years, more often than not as part of my "business editorial" package where I'm photographing People Doing Things to tell a story about a business for use in their marketing. Sometimes, though, I'm asked to produce portfolio images of completed projects and I really enjoy it.

Here's a very nice detached house out in the Kent countryside that a carpentry and joinery company installed fibre-cement weatherboard cladding to. It's specialist work using a premium product and the end result, when done right, looks fantastic so is real nice to photograph! :)

It's really important for trades to produce and maintain a portfolio of their projects, these firms are trading on their skills and to stand out from the crowd when placing tenders, it really helps to consolidate their proposition to clients and contractors if they can show a set of high-quality photographs of their best work.

If you're working in the construction industry, drop me a line to have a chat about shooting a portfolio for you. :) [email protected]

Here's a photo I've been meaning to take for *years*. I first saw this view ages ago, 2013 I think, when driving along the A249 towards Maidstone. I can't remember if it was sunrise or sunset (will need to check on a compass I guess!) but the sun was low in the sky behind the dilapidated barn and it looked awesome. Of course, I didn't have my camera with me then but I vowed to return and shoot it. As ever, I got sidetracked and forgot until the next time I drove past it sans camera, making the same vow, and getting sidetracked the same way. Well, I was driving back to base from a shoot yesterday as I drove past so I finally got the shot! I want to get that sunset/sunrise image, though, so will be returning, as long as I don't get sidetracked again!

It's a glorious day outside so here's some photos of some lovely tractors! :-D

I shot these a couple of years ago at the Agri Expo at Detling Showground, the brief was to capture imagery from the day for use in their website for the following year's event. It was pretty muddy on the ground so I elected to photograph the various tractors in a abstract, close-cropped way to work around that and not have all the images look downbeat. You can see I employed a "wonky" style, which is where the camera is aimed off-kilter to further make the subject in the abstract, to produce images that work nicely as decorative effects within a design layout. Huzzah!

Had a fun time on Saturday shooting the action at the Bournemouth BJJ Open. I've been photographing jiu jitsu since early 2017 and I find it a real pleasure, it's loads of fun and it's a joy to see the reactions from parents and competitors when I share my images. Great stuff!

Here's a couple of galleries of photographs from the day, both adults and kids divisions, on my specialist BJJ photography website:

I'm available for hire for BJJ and combat sports event photography, drop me a line on 01622 807867 for a chat. Happy to travel anywhere in the UK. :)
