As a photographer I am so lucky to be able to work with people who are deeply in love on the happiest day of their lives; surrounded by their friends and family. I feel what allows me to truly appreciate the thoughts and feelings on your special day has been invaluable experiences, such as my own wedding in 2011 quite a few years ago, working with a large number of other award winning wedding photographers, Venues and Companies over the 15 years while I’ve been photographing weddings. These attributes are what I feel make the key foundations of a great and compassionate wedding photographer. I’m A Documentary Photographer Who Is There To Lend A Helping Hand, Which Understands When To Utilise The Art Of Posing And Light Shaping Tools To Add A Kick Of Drama To You Images. I was told by my grandad that ‘people will remember how you made them feel, over anything else you do.’ This is why my couple’s memory and experience of their day is my top priority. We strive that our presence on their wedding day is only a positive one for everyone attending. We do this in a variety of ways:
First of all, I am always there to help, the number of wedding dresses I have helped lace-up or full Windsor knots I’ve taught groomsmen how to tie is countless. The advantage of photographing close to 1,000 weddings is I’ve probably seen it beforehand. Second, I mainly photograph in a documentary style except for a few points of the day which need a few helping hands, for example, group photos, I advise our couples what would be best but it’s my job to capture the events in the best possible light with the least possible disruption. Third, I do my best to blend in to the day, from dressing the part to keeping a smile on my face with my terrible jokes, I’ll happily help and assist your guests whether it’s helping grandma up the stairs to helping a lost guest to reception venue! I know how to use available light to get the best images, whether this is using epic natural light at golden-hour, or window light to beautifully highlight a bride in a dark room. But weddings don’t just happen in great light, they also happen at night, during the winter and we get unflattering light during most of the day. This is where I can use an array of light shaping tools combined with years of experience in using off-camera flash to really highlight and enhance your photos. I love using it to add a good chunk of drama to my images. I have shot at a wide variety of locations including The Houses of Parliament, The Inner Temple Church in London, Cooling Castle Barns, Lympne Castle, Winter’s Barn, Canterbury Cathedral, and hundreds of numerous venues across the southeast. These venues have all provided their individual challenges; whether it was hundreds of tourists wanting a glimpse of the action, torrential rain from a ’10 year storm’, a 999 call, or strict rules on photography inside a house of worship. All of these experiences have provided me with the knowledge and confidence that will allow me to overcome any challenge I may face on your own day. An all-day, no time limit photographer, such as myself, allows you to relive all of the chapters of the day you wouldn’t normally be able to. These shots are easily my favorites of the day, whether it’s an epic sunset shot, debortury on the dance floor, or the emotions of the morning preparations. I believe in shooting images to tell your story; I always set out to capture every part of the day; my work begins before the wedding. I am passionate about ensuring couples feel calm and prepared for their wedding day and I believe that a pre-wedding engagement shoot enables you to feel relaxed which is vital for you to enjoy every part of your special celebration. I’m a Social loving, overly excited I mean passionate but a laidback and relaxed guy, I enjoy high-stress environments and a challenge, I strive to help people in my life, and I am a massive romantic! As a father, I’m very empathetic and understand the struggles of parenting on a wedding day, or any day! I love to climb, it’s definitely my happy space, but I’m weirdly scared of heights, an odd combo I know! You will always find me listening to a band you won’t know or like on Spotify, ‘Singing’ I mean Screaming or shouting at the top of my lungs in my car, it makes me feel like a kid again!
