Two of Yorkshire Wildlife Park’s cheetah sisters, looking remarkably innocent.

I’m not entirely convinced. 🤣

👑 The King of Yorkshire Wildlife Park 🦁

Magnificent mane, piercing gaze and an attitude to match… Teddi certainly knows how to make an impression!

It’s been months since I last saw Teddi and his pride up close in the front enclosure, so it was lovely to spend some time photographing them again.

And blimey, haven’t those youngsters grown! 😳

As for Teddi, well… that perfectly coiffed mane would put most hair salons to shame. Although judging by this expression, even the King of YWP isn’t above getting annoyed by a tiny fly! 🪰🤣

Back in my favourite place ❤️🐅

Today was my first visit back to Yorkshire Wildlife Park since the tragic events of last weekend.

It felt different being there. A little quieter, a little more sombre, and with everything that happened still very much in my thoughts.

But it was good to be back at my favourite place, camera in hand, doing what I love.

And it seems only fitting that my first photograph from today’s visit should be of Altai, my favourite animal. ❤️

A familiar face, a beautiful tiger, and a moment I was particularly grateful to capture.

My thoughts remain with everyone affected by the tragedy.

🐆 Stepping out with Bonita!

Meet Bonita, one of Chester Zoo’s beautiful jaguars.

Bonita arrived at Chester alongside her son, Remi, after being rehomed from South Lakes Safari Zoo.

Here she is making her way across the stepping stones beside the waterfall, looking completely at ease as she picks her way over the rocks.

I love photographing the jaguars in this part of their habitat. The rocks, flowing water and lush greenery make a fantastic setting, and catching them mid-stride adds a little something extra to the photograph.

And just look at those incredible markings! ❤️

🐆 One last glance.

Just one brief look from Nubra at Chester Zoo, but what a moment.

With her thick, beautifully patterned coat and those unmistakable pale eyes, she’s a stunning example of a snow leopard.

I particularly love this photograph because it shows her in her surroundings, rather than filling the frame with just her face. The rocks, vegetation and soft light all help tell the story.

And sometimes, all it takes is a split second of eye contact to make a photograph worth keeping. ❤️

🐅 Meet Dash, one of Chester Zoo’s handsome Sumatran tigers!

I’ve photographed quite a few tigers over the years, but Dash has always stood out to me.

His beautifully rich, dark colouring, particularly around his face, gives him such a distinctive look. And those piercing eyes certainly know how to hold your attention! 👀

This photograph was taken during a visit last year, but I’ve recently revisited the original and given it a fresh edit. Sometimes it’s worth going back through the archives with a new perspective.

There’s something about those dark markings and those piercing eyes that really makes Dash stand out from the crowd. ❤️

👑 Chester’s Young King 🦁

Meet Nilay, Chester Zoo’s handsome young Asiatic lion!

He might still have a little growing to do, and that mane has plenty of filling out ahead of it, but he’s already looking every inch the king as he stands proudly surveying his new kingdom.

There’s something rather special about seeing a young male lion at this stage of his life. That youthful face, the beginnings of an impressive mane, and those enormous paws!

I’m looking forward to watching Nilay grow and develop over future visits. Something tells me he’s going to be a magnificent sight when he’s fully grown. ❤️

Small, bright, and impossible to ignore! 🧡🐸

A tiny splash of orange amongst the greenery, and a perfect example of just how much beauty can be packed into something so small.

With those incredible colours, delicate little toes and curious expression, this little frog certainly caught my attention.

Sometimes the smallest subjects make the biggest impression. 📸

A change of pace… and a change of colour! 💚🐍

Taking a little break from the big cats tonight to appreciate the incredible colours and intricate patterns of an emerald tree boa.

Every scale seems to catch the light differently, from deep emerald greens to flashes of gold.

And tucked away amongst those coils, there’s a little face keeping an eye on everything. 👀

After the tragic events at Yorkshire Wildlife Park this weekend, I wanted to share a photograph of the beautiful Altai. 🐅❤️

Like so many people who have come to know and love this magnificent tiger, I’m incredibly relieved that Altai is safe.

But it’s also important to remember that this weekend’s events have had a devastating impact on others.

My thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the man who lost his life, and with the keepers, staff, emergency services and visitors who were involved in or witnessed such a distressing incident.

A heartbreaking situation all round, and one that I’m sure will stay with many people for a long time.
