Lyme Regis Carnival Week 2026 Raises Record £26,000

Lyme Regis Carnival Week 2026 has raised more than £26,000 for local good causes, smashing last year’s record total of £21,200.

Following a spectacular firework display on 31 July, the week got underway with the Torchlight Procession, followed by a packed programme of family-friendly events culminating in the Carnival Procession.

Chairman of the Lyme Regis Regatta and Carnival team, Alan Vian, said:

“Carnival Week was a fantastic success, and it was brilliant to see so many local people and visitors enjoying the events.

“A huge thank you goes to everyone who helped make Carnival Week happen, especially our fantastic volunteers. Without our volunteers, none of this would be possible.”

Organiser Rob James said the team was delighted to have exceeded last year’s fundraising total, with the money raised to be distributed among local good causes.

“The support from local businesses was phenomenal. I’d like to thank our primary sponsors — Dorset and Devon Holiday Cottages, Lyme Bay Holidays and Toad Hall Cottages — as well as all the local businesses that contributed financially.”

"These included Alexandra Hotel and Restaurant, Baboo, Deli Weli Lyme Regis, Eat at Millside, The Harbour Inn, Lyme Regis, Harry May Boat Trips, Hook Farm, Lyme Regis Marine Aquarium, Lyme Regis Amusements, Lyme Regis Stays, Lyme Rib Rides, Lyme’s Fish Bar, Milly’s, Newlands Holiday Park, Poco Pizza, Red Panda Lyme Regis, Rock Point Inn, Rockfish, The Royal Standard, Strawberry Tree, The Bagel Co, The Cobb Arms, The Royal Lion Hotel, Lyme Regis, The Slipway, The Town Mill, Toms, Town Mill Bakery, Trinity Hill Hideaway and Westwood.

"The team are also grateful to the many businesses that donated prizes for the bingo and raffles.

“Special thanks to Lyme Regis Town Council for their significant financial contribution towards the fireworks and to the owners of St Andrews Meadow, who kindly allowed us to use the field for event parking.”

The Lyme Regis Carnival Week Team 2026 comprised Alan Vian (Chairman), Rob James, Karen Skardon James, Annette Denning, Gilly Clark, Jacob Denning, Joshua Denning, AJ Hutchings, Lynnette Ravenscroft, JJ Ellis, Noah Moses Turner and Mark Lester.

The core team were assisted by Steve Parsons and family, Tom Eaton, Joey Thirlwell, Linda White & Sue, Nikki and Jack Kerss Tim Mayers, as well as volunteers who helped with events, manned the kiosk, held collection buckets or assisted with road closures.

Carnival Week 2027 will take place from Friday 30 July to Saturday 7 August 2027.

The Red Barrows Step In for the Red Arrows! The Red Arrows may have been grounded, but Lyme Regis Lifeboat Week still got its own spectacular display today!

The RAF Aerobatics Team was due to perform following its tour of the US, but poor weather in Canada has grounded the squadron.

Thankfully, Devon-based performance group the Bradninch Red Barrows stepped in admirably to fill the void left by their high-flying counterparts — swapping jets for wheelbarrows and bringing plenty of fun and entertainment to Lifeboat Week!

Next up in Faces of Lyme is Tim Edwards, Senior Helm with RNLI Lyme Regis.

Tim has been a volunteer with the RNLI in Lyme Regis for an incredible 28 years, dedicating countless hours to helping those in trouble at sea.

Like so many volunteer RNLI crew members, when Tim’s pager goes off, he drops whatever he is doing, including his work as a groundworker, and heads straight to the lifeboat station, ready to respond to an emergency.

During Lifeboat Week, we’d like to say a huge thank you, Tim, for your commitment, courage and many years of service to the Lyme Regis community.
