When Someone You Love Is Gone | ECHOES OF ABSENCE — LIKUNOZGA ZUWA

Two families. Two countries. One hymn. The same pain of losing someone they love — and the same hope that goodbye is not the end.

ECHOES OF ABSENCE — LIKUNOZGA ZUWA is an original cinematic short film from Nsabwe Flicks, following two families living ordinary lives in two very different worlds: the Mumba family in Mzuzu, Malawi, and Derek and Callum Ward in England.

Their lives are unconnected, but when illness enters both homes, each family is forced to confront love, fear, separation and ultimately loss. Across an ocean and across cultures, grief speaks the same language.

At the heart of the film is “Likunozga Zuwa” (Sumu 284), a Tumbuka hymn of faith, remembrance and hope — a reminder that even in absence, love remains, and faith holds onto the promise that we shall meet again.
