A leisurely, late breakfast in Brewe Clee Hill followed by watching the second Clee Hill Tractor Run (in aid of Clee Hill Rugby Club) on its way to and from the summit of the Clee, followed by a few pints in The Cross On The Hill. Not a bad way to spend a Bank Holiday Monday!

A photo I took of a cyanotype of a photo I took. Or something. Anyhoo, it's the Pump Rooms in Tenbury Wells - part of a project I'm embarking on involving local landmarks. This is one of several test pieces, checking for exposure, negative suitability etc. It's still fresh from rinsing, so should darken down nicely by tomorrow.

(Not terribly) interesting fact - the Pump Rooms were built in 1862, exactly 20 years after the cyanotype process was developed.

With what looks like plenty of rain in the forecast, this evening Mrs. C. and I enjoyed what might be our last dry walk on the hill for a while. Hopefully a decent drenching will finally allow the parched landscape to begin to recover. It will be a novelty to have a green lawn again. Work on the new radar tower near the hill summit continues, with the concrete foundations more or less complete. Our exisiting 'golf ball' will still be around for a few months yet and I shall continue to photograph it up until the time that I can't. Hopefully the new one will be as photogenic!😊📷

While it's easy to get wrapped up in the bonkers unpredictability of wet cyanotypes, sometimes you just can't beat the simple elegance of the standard process. Especially when using Asparagus Ferns as the subject - like fir trees in miniature! This original cyanotype is unique; one of a kind and, since I've not scanned it, it's likely to stay that way. It looks very smart, dressed in a bright white mount and thin black aluminium 14" x 11" frame. Reckon it would look nice on your wall? Drop me a PM and let's see what we can do.👍

The two Clee hills, the one on which I'm sat, and the other 'un over the back, form the 3rd highest and highest lumps in Shropshire, at 533m and 540m respectively. Dividing their height difference exactly and satisfyingly in two sits the second highest top in Shropshire at 536m - the Stiperstones (or more accurately, the quartzite outcrop of Manstone Rock which sits partway along the ridge). It's been a while since Mrs. C and I have been up the Stiperstones so we popped up there this afternoon to enjoy a stroll along its rocky spine. As we reached the outcrop known as Devil's Chair the sun put in an appearance. So I took some pictures. Glorious light and wonderful contrast between the pale, sparkling quartzite, purple heather, green bracken and burnt-to-a-crisp orange whimberries. Saw a Red Grouse and my first Clouded Yellow butterfly too! As if the afternoon couldn't get any better, we accidentally bought some cider on the way home. Apologies if I start to make less and less sense from here on in...

A satisfying afternoon spent avoiding rain showers while mounting these botanical 'wet' Cyanotype prints for a customer order. They look fabulous in real life, even if I do say so myself! I hope the recipient loves 'em as much as I do.

These fine art giclée prints are produced in house, using high quality pigment inks, archival cotton rag paper and acid-free mounts. They're designed to last a lifetime without fading or discolouration. The eagle-eyed among you may notice a couple of empty whisky tumblers on the table. They're used to weight the pieces down while taping. Honest!🥃🥴👍😁

A montage of the eclipse from start to finish in 9 shots - 6:15pm to 8:04pm. Battled with the cloud, but I think it gives it far more atmosphere (pardon the pun)

After yesterday's eclipse it was back home for a couple of hours to charge batteries, swap lenses and down copious amounts of coffee before heading back out to try to catch the Perseid meteor shower. Mananged to catch a few over an hour or so's viewing. Pic best viewed large.
