Look Again

Look Again Explore mindful photography to improve wellbeing, grow resilience and spark regenerative change When we do this, something shifts. It’s subtle, yet powerful.

Welcome to Look Again

We weave together photography, mindfulness and nature connection to help people slow down, look and look again to see the present with fresh eyes. Our evidence-based methodology has benefited thousands of people around the world and our approach is recognised as an accessible and transformational intervention for personal, community and organisational development. In 2024,

we were honoured with the Innovations in Mindfulness Award, for our training programme 'Working with Mindful Photography'. By blending imagination, creativity, and learning from nature, mindful photography is a type of therapeutic photography based on the foundations of mindfulness practice. It’s not about the tech or the outcome - how ‘good’ the photography is. It’s about the process of looking and seeing differently, with curiosity, compassion, gratitude, non-judgment, and trust. To date, over 170 practitioners across 30+ countries have trained with Look Again, applying the creative, nature-connected approach to support mental health, climate resilience, trauma recovery and individual and community wellbeing. Supporting practitioners, leaders and changemakers to do what they do best. We offer in-person and online mindful photography workshops, courses, retreats and training. As I recorded this short video last week, I was sitting in the shade beside an old tree in the small village of Lentwardine, near Ludlow in Shropshire. It was over 30 degrees, and I had taken refuge in the quiet grounds of a beautiful church — surrounded by oak, yew and pine trees, birdsong, distant traffic, and moments of stillness.

Leaning back against the trunk of the tree, I found myself reflecting on the essence of Look Again’s upcoming ‘Creating Hopeful Futures with Mindful Photography’ training programme, beginning on 25 June.

At the heart of this work are some simple yet profound questions:

✨ What is the future?
✨ What does the future look like if nothing changes?
✨ What images come to mind when you think about the future — for yourself, your family, your community, your workplace, our wider society, and our planet?
✨ How do those images make you feel?
✨ What kind of future would you like to see?
✨ What kind of future do you want to help create?

For many of us, the future can feel uncertain, overwhelming, or difficult to imagine. Yet alongside this, there is also a deep longing for futures that are more caring, connected, compassionate and life-giving.

Through mindful photography, visual storytelling and reflective practices, this training explores how imagination, attention and image-making can help us actively shape more hopeful futures — rather than simply accepting the futures that may unfold if nothing changes.

The programme includes five interconnected modules:

🌱 Looking again at the future if nothing changes
🌱 Imagining caring and connected futures
🌱 Seeing for future generations
🌱 Creating hopeful future stories through photography and visual practice
🌱 Practical applications for personal, community and organisational settings

This work is designed to be accessible, inclusive and adaptable — whether you are supporting yourself, your community, your organisation, or the people you work alongside.

To introduce the training, I’m offering a FREE webinar on Monday 8 June:

🕰 12:30–1:30pm (UK time)
🕰 5:00–6:00pm (UK time)

During the webinar I’ll guide a gentle mindful photography practice to support us in meeting uncertainty with greater calm, courage and connection.

The session will also offer practical tools and give a deeper sense of how this work can support more hopeful, nurturing futures for ourselves, our communities and workplaces.

To join the FREE webinar or to find out more about the training, see info in comment below.

I look forward to welcoming you.

Celebrating and sharing beauty on life’s journey…

At this time when there’s a lot of uncertainty, change, and potential anxiety…

Grounding as I walk in Mortimer Forest, near Ludlow, Shropshire, in the England-Wales borderlands.

What can you see of beauty right here right now?

Over the past two years, I’ve been learning to trust a path that hasn’t always been clear.

Through woodland walks, time in wild places, and quiet noticing, something has been slowly unfolding — shaping how I live, how I create, and how I guide others through Look Again.

Again and again, I’m reminded that in times of change and uncertainty, we don’t always need answers straight away. What can help is learning how to stay with where we are — and to notice small moments of steadiness and hope along the way.

The work I offer is rooted in paying attention. To place, to feeling, to the small signals that show us where we are, and where we might be heading.

I’ve written a personal reflection in my latest blog post, 'My Unfolding Path', sharing some of these moments — and how they’ve gently revealed something bigger over time.

If you’re moving through change, or simply longing for more space and a sense of hope, I hope it offers a feeling of companionship.

Over the past two years
I’ve been learning to trust a path I couldn’t always see.

Woodland walks.
Wild places.
Quiet noticing.

In times of change and uncertainty,
this practice has become a way of staying grounded —
of finding small, steady moments of hope
in what is already here.

A colour.
A shift in light.
A sense of connection.

Small moments
that slowly reveal something bigger.

This is the story behind the work I offer through Look Again —
a practice of paying attention
to place,
to feeling,
to what’s quietly calling us forward.

I’ve shared a new blog post: My Unfolding Path.

If you’re navigating change
or longing for more space and hope,
I hope it offers gentle companionship.

There are some big changes ahead in 2026.

I don’t yet know what they will look like — only that things are shifting.

For years I’ve sensed it: a relocation, movement, new forms of creativity… a quiet invitation to trust the unfolding of the unknown.

So over the past few days I’ve given myself time and space to be on the road. Not towards a fixed destination, but towards somewhere — within and without.

I’ve been travelling along the England–Wales borders and into mid Wales, map in hand yet curiosity in the lead. I’ve followed small roads, unexpected turnings, instinctive choices.

And alongside that wandering, I’ve been intentional about looking — really looking. Noticing with gratitude the sights, sounds and smells of this winter landscape through all my senses.

This little road trip in my van, Bertina — named in memory of my dear cat Bertie, whose spirit still feels close — has been a quiet teacher.

Each night I’ve stopped somewhere new, never quite knowing where I’d end up. Trusting that a place would reveal itself before dark. Allowing myself to settle with blankets, simple food, a good book, my thoughts, and my dreams.

The wild beauty of Wales has offered space for reflection and awe, as I begin to imagine the next chapter of my life and work with Look Again.

Sometimes seeing differently begins with not knowing where the road leads.

A question I’m holding for you:

🌱 When was the last time you trusted curiosity enough to follow an unexpected path — and what did you begin to see differently because of it?

And...

Hi Everyone - we took a gentle step back in January to rest and reflect, and haven’t been very visible online.

Because of that, and because this work feels especially needed right now, we're extending the early-bird discount for the Look Again 'Working with Mindful Photography' training until 19 February.

The image here relates to the very first module: Learning to See. A simple cup of coffee. A glass of water. An everyday moment.

The training is about seeing with curiosity, presence, and an open heart and mind - and discovering how even the most ordinary things can shift and reframe how we feel, think, and care for ourselves and others.

Over 8 weeks, we explore how mindful photography can help:

🌱 see new perspectives
🌱 meet ourselves and others with compassion
🌱 build resilience and connection
🌱 learn with and from nature
🌱 adapt this work in accessible, appropriate ways to support ourselves and others

The training is designed for those working in or alongside: mental health, therapeutic practices, counselling, mindfulness, and wellbeing; Coaching and facilitation; Education and creative practice including art and photography; Social impact, community, and regeneration initiatives.

Next cohort:

🌱 Starts: Thursday 19 March 2026
🌱 Time: 1:00–5:00pm (UK)
🌱 Online, live, experiential sessions
🌱 Small group, reflective learning space + home practice
🌱 Early-bird: 25% off until 19 February
🌱 Fees: from £596.25 or 3 payments of £219 (saving £200+)

This programme is evidence-based, evaluated by the University of Gloucestershire, and winner of the Innovations in Mindfulness Award (Training Category, 2024).

If you’re longing for a grounded, creative way to support wellbeing - for yourself, your clients, groups, teams, or communities - you’d be so welcome.

Places are limited to protect the depth and safety of the learning space.

Ruth has been keeping her word and taking a longer than usual winter pause — a season of wintering: Resting. Reflecting. Slowing down. Letting things soften and settle.

Deep rest, a time to pause - A personal note from Ruth:

I’m writing this as flu is creeping up on me, yet I wanted to share something that feels important right now.

As winter settles in, I’m becoming increasingly aware that this season is asking something different of me - and of Look Again. Not clearer plans or firmer answers about what comes next - rather a genuine pause.

In regenerative terms, winter isn’t a problem to solve or a gap to fill. It’s a necessary phase of rest, composting, and listening - a time when life pulls back below the surface and growth isn’t visible.

With that in mind, we’ve chosen to clear the calendar for a while, including cancelling the planned Creating Hopeful Futures with Mindful Photography training in January.

It feels important to take our own medicine - to slow down, tune into the season in our bodies and around us, and make space without yet knowing what will emerge.

This pause will also include time away from screens and social media. You can still reach us by email if needed, though responses may be slower than usual.

I wish you a gentle festive season and a thoughtful, spacious entry into the year ahead.

Thank you for your understanding, your patience, and for walking alongside us.

Love and courage,

Ruth
