Next week there’s a watch coming up for auction at online “New York” sale that’s a bit more than special. Yes you will likely recognize it as a 6263, but what I love about this one is the story:

Purchased by the original (and current) Owner’s father in 1971 as a birthday present for his son from O.J. Perrin Jewelers in Paris the watch quite literally has not left the owner’s wrist for 49 years. He was a documentary filmmaker, notably spending time in Burma (now Myanmar) as the Vietnam war came to a close documenting the Karen people and their ongoing civil war for independence from the Myanmar government. It is one of the longest civil wars in history and technically continues to this day.

Throughout his career the watch remained on the owners wrist as he spent time working in exotic locations around the world, gaining an elegant tropical patina that is rare to see on a 6263.

What fun to see make it’s appearance in the final episode of Season 4, truly a remarkable country home that I’ve been lucky enough to have used as a backdrop for a few photoshoots of my own over the years.

During non-pandemic times its open to the public, wonderful gardens and exemplary grade listed architecture. Worth a day’s visit if you are out near the Suffolk Coastline 🏰 @ Somerleyton Hall & Gardens
