When I created these jewellery images, I started by thinking about the feeling I wanted each piece to carry. Every stone had its own character, so I chose background colours that supported that personality rather than distracted from it. The greens worked well with the natural, earthy qualities of moss agate, while the purples added a sense of elegance and depth that suited the dendritic patterns. I wanted backgrounds that felt calm and intentional, giving the jewellery space to stand out.
My lighting choices were just as deliberate. I used soft, directional light because it gave the metal gentle highlights without creating harsh reflections. Jewellery could look unforgiving under the wrong light, so I focused on keeping everything clean, flattering, and controlled. My aim was for the viewer to feel like they could almost reach in and touch the piece.
Using a macro lens was also a conscious decision. These stones had such intricate internal details, and getting close allowed me to reveal textures and patterns that might otherwise go unnoticed. It created a sense of intimacy, almost like discovering a small world inside the jewellery. Altogether, these choices helped me produce images that felt personal, intentional, and true to the character of each piece.
