This weekend is the official anniversary of Goole's bicentenary. Although celebrations are planned for the full year, today and tomorrow see a number of events to mark the town's milestone.
Goole museum opened their superb exhibition of Reuben Chappell paintings which showcases several works never seen in public before. It runs until 24th October.
The other main event today was a flotilla of boats which toured the docks. Organised by the Yorkshire Waterways Heritage Society, a whole range of small vessels including working boats, preserved heritage vessels, narrow boats and cruisers paraded in front of a good crowd of onlookers. It was great to see these "small ships" decked out with flags and bunting, their owners and crews thoroughly enjoying the event.
