This impressive work by in Chemnitz, is the third in a series of murals of holocaust survivors. This portrait is of Chemnitz born Justin Sonder. This mural was created when Chemnitz acted as European Capital of Culture in 2025.

Sonder has surived the Auschwitz concentration camp and dedicated his life to lecture school children about the horrific events he endured during the war, keeping the memories alive for all to learn from. These efforts earned him the honorary citizenship of the town of Chemnitz.

The mural is based on a photograph by Chemnitz photographer Philipp Gladsome. The tekst "Ich sollte überleben" translates to "I should survive"

This wonderful new mural close to my home was created in record time by . The building this artwork is painted on, is part of the school for graphic design.

Melissa is a fantastic artist on canvas, who has expanded her playing field substantialy by creating murals now too. In her short mural career she has learned a lot and her signature style is showing more and more. She gets the inspiration for her abstract works from flowers, and I think it really works well on this scale.

Another masterpiece by in my home town of . Tymon portayed Mariela from the small town of Atempan, Mexico on this wall. His projects often involve creating portraits of people he has met on his travels.

The link between the two locations in Rotterdam and Mexico can be found in trade. The town of Atempan transforms into an import regional market weekly. And near this mural the largest shopping mall of Rotterdam can be found.

This month I was back in Čačak for a quick visit and to see the new murals that had been created since I was last there. This wall contained a work by Kusha Chiks, but since had undergone renovations where the work was lost. A new painting was made, and it was very cool to see how the artist has evolved into a completely different style.

For those unaware; the small town of Čačak in Central Serbia hosts the DUK festival. Over the last 10+ years the inspiring team behind this festival has managed to produce well over 100 murals and has transformed this place into an open-air art museum. It is well worth a visit to check out all of the great art by a mix of local and international artists.

Thanks again to my good friend for the coffee, hospitality, nice talk and tour of the art!

Back home in Rotterdam, where and pumped out this this banger for Chinese year of the fire horse. This is a familiar place for Karski and Tim to paint, right in the heart of the Chinese community here in Rotterdam.

In Chinese Zodiac, the year of the Fire Horse is associated with intense energy, rapid change, and bold action. The year started on February 17th and so far it is living up to it's reputation, I guess.

As per usual I'm late to the party, this time the one thrown by the great . With slight jealousy I saw last Augusts series in London unfold, all the images and news reports coming out while I was half way across Europe.

Being this late also had it upsides though; I was the only one there to photograph, so I could just take my time to take in the work without anyone disturbing me. And while there were hordes of people trying to get into the fake Banksy rip-off exposition in my home town for big money, I got to witness the real deal for free and in the environment it was meant to be in.

Absolute legends and came together to create this banger in 2016. Ten years later the piece is still fantastic, not even the god-ugly package machine dumped in front can take away any of it's glory. I'm very happy I took the detour to go and check out this work.
