I spent an evening experimenting with long exposure photography, using passing buses to create streaks of light, colour, and movement through the city. It is always amazing how something as ordinary as public transport can turn into something almost painterly when you slow the shutter down. Here is how I did it simply and effectively.

New video is up!

This one is a little special. I’ve been working on a project around the 50mm lens, not just as a tool for taking individual street photos, but as a way of building a complete body of work.

In the video, I talk about composition, light, shadows, colour, sequencing, and the process of turning years of 50mm photographs into a printed photo book.

It’s partly practical, partly reflective, and very much about why our photos deserve to live somewhere beyond hard drives and social media.

I’d love to hear your thoughts when it goes live.

One of the most common photography myths is that you need a full-frame camera to shoot at night. While full frame certainly has its advantages, modern APS-C cameras are more than capable of producing beautiful images after dark. Here are a few examples from my own photography.

People often assume that bigger sensors make better photographers.

I am not so sure.

For street photography, I value freedom more than perfection. A camera that is lighter, less noticeable, and easier to carry all day helps me stay focused on the world rather than the gear. That is why, despite having used full frame for years, APS-C remains my preferred choice for the streets.

Here is a simple way - in 3 steps - that shows you how to capture mind bending shadows when shooting against the sun.

For years I believed full frame was the destination. I thought that with the bigger sensor, comes the better camera and, as a result, better photography.

But after years of shooting the streets, I slowly realised something surprising.

Sometimes smaller cameras, like APS-Cs, can actually make us better photographers.

New video is now live.

A collection of some recent dark cinematic photos.

Do you enjoy this style?

For years I thought different lenses were simply tools that changed the way my photos looked. But over time, I realised something deeper. The 85mm taught me distance, the 50mm taught me balance, and wider focal lengths pushed me closer into the chaos of life and storytelling. In this video I reflect on how changing lenses slowly changed not only my photography, but also the way I see the world and myself as a photographer.

For years I thought changing lenses was about changing my photography. From the 50mm to the 85mm, from wider lenses to smaller cameras, each focal length taught me something different about composition, storytelling and the way I see the world.

But after all these years, I realised the greatest change was never the lens itself. It was me.

This is one of the most personal videos I have made about photography, focal lengths, introversion, growth and the strange way cameras can slowly shape who we become.

I hope you enjoy it.
