I’m always interested in what happens when we show less.

As you’ll know if you’ve followed me for a while, this kind of light means quite a lot to me. It was part of what helped me begin to see my own body differently.

A lot of my work brings together portraiture, bo***ir and the n**e. I like using light to reveal just enough, a shape, a gesture, a little bit of the person, without feeling like everything has to be shown.

I don’t photograph men nearly as often as women, but when I do, I’m still looking for much the same things.

Shape. Gesture. Light.

And, hopefully, a photograph that feels like the person in front of me.

Desire is not the enemy. Being reduced to desirability is.

There is a tendency within empowerment language to overcorrect, as though beauty, sensuality or the wish to be desired must be dismissed for the photograph to be ethical.

But I see this as another kind of flattening.

It leaves little room for pleasure, vanity, fantasy, eroticism, adornment, or the simple enjoyment of feeling beautiful.

The nuance lies in who the image belongs to.

Is the person in the photograph performing beauty as an obligation, according to a narrow standard? Or are they choosing to inhabit beauty, sensuality and desire on their own terms?

I don’t often have the opportunity to photograph men. My approach to bo***ir leans towards the more artistic end of the spectrum, often using light and shadow to reveal and conceal, so it’s important that a client’s vision aligns with mine.

When I do get the chance, I adore it because gender changes surprisingly little.

The hesitation before stepping in front of the camera. The questions we ask ourselves about our bodies. The small boost of courage we sometimes need (occasionally in the form of a glass of sparkling wine.) These are all the same.

What matters most is trust, curiosity, and creating photographs that feel true to the person in front of me.

I was recently asked on a photography ethics podcast what myth I would most like to debunk about bo***ir.

My answer was that it is not simply about looking sexy in lingerie. Sometimes it includes that, of course, but reducing bo***ir to that flattens what is really happening.

Often, it is about confidence, curiosity, change, self-recognition, or giving parts of yourself room to exist that everyday life does not always make space for.

That is why my sessions are collaborative. I am not interested in fitting someone into one narrow idea of desirability. I want to help them shape how they are seen. That is what I mean by self-authorship.

Sometimes the most personal photographs are as simple as standing in a doorway, wearing something familiar, and letting the light do some of the work.

They are not asking you to become someone else. They give you the chance to notice yourself differently.

Legs, photographed six ways.

Raised, crossed, extended, folded or reduced to a line of light.

Each position creates a completely different shape within the frame.
Sometimes the legs lead the photograph.

Sometimes they create balance, movement or a sense of play.

The pose is only part of it; the camera angle, crop, light and styling all change how that same part of the body is seen.

I always say this during our wardrobe chat:

If you love them, bring the jeans.

Even if you think they’re not “bo***ir enough.”

A shoot doesn’t have to start with the boldest thing in your bag. It can start with the outfit you already know how to be yourself in.

Then we can add the lace top.

Or take the shirt off one shoulder.

Or play with bare feet and messy hair and see where it goes.

That’s usually how the really lovely images happen.

I know not everyone leaves a review, and in a field as personal as bo***ir photography, I completely understand why.

Many of my clients choose to keep their photographs private. Some never share their images publicly, and some prefer not to leave a review at all.

Privacy, choice, and control over how much of someone’s story is shared are important parts of my business ethos, and I will always respect that.

That makes every review feel incredibly meaningful.

Each one represents someone who trusted me with their confidence, their story, and often a small step outside their comfort zone.

To everyone who has taken the time to share their experience, thank you.

Your words help other women feel a little less nervous, a little more confident, and a little more certain that they will be treated with kindness, respect, and care.
