PHOTO SERIES: Summer Solstice, Lowestoft 2026

It had been a while since Iā€™d celebrated the summer solstice with my family. This year, we headed to Lowestoft, the most easterly town in the UK and went to First Light Festival, where the countryā€™s first midsummer sunrise is celebrated on the beach.

We wild camped on the beach together too, something I grew up doing a lot with my family but hadnā€™t done in a while. At 4am, everyone gathered for yoga, listened to atmospheric music and watched the sun come up, then ran into the sea.

Such a lovely way to start the longest day.

Now thatā€™s how you drink w**e. šŸ˜‚šŸ·

After 6 months sober, this lovely man decided the best way to welcome me to Malaga was by pouring w**e directly into my mouth.

Unfortunately, between my terrible Spanish and his limited English, he couldnā€™t quite understand why I didnā€™t want any w**e in the first place.

I know it technically doesnā€™t countā€¦ but if youā€™re going to accidentally drink w**e, this is probably the way to do it.

In exchange, I gave him a little portrait on my camera.
