The UK construction drone market is growing at 8% CAGR. Here is what that means for surveyors.
The global construction drone market was valued at $4.6 billion in 2025 and is forecast to reach $11.17 billion by 2036. The UK is growing at 8% CAGR through 2036 - driven by rising adoption across EPC contractors, public sector bodies, and insurance-driven inspection work.
For chartered surveyors, this shift is already visible. Drone-based aerial photography is replacing scaffolding and cherry-pickers on pre-purchase inspections, schedule-of-condition surveys, and defect reporting. While surveyors still carry out their essential on-site inspections, drones provide safe, efficient access to roofs, elevations, and other hard-to-reach areas, delivering comprehensive imagery that enhances the quality of their assessments.
The firms that recognised this early are already benefiting. Surveyors using drone partners are taking on more instructions per week, reducing access costs, and presenting clients with higher-quality photographic evidence in their reports.
The question isn't whether drone surveying becomes standard practice in the UK - it already is, for those paying attention.
