Calling All Creatives!!
As we know, this is a critical time for creators, as generative-AI companies spend millions lobbying governments to let them train AI on your content without a licence and build a system that competes with your work. We want to show that creators and performers around the world reject this unfair, unlicensed training, with a short, simple statement signed by thousands of people.
The statement is: "The unlicensed use of creative works for training generative AI is a major, unjust threat to the livelihoods of the people behind those works, and must not be permitted."
Musicians, authors, actors, photographers, artists, and other creators, performers, and creative industry reps, are coming together to send a message that this large-scale theft of IP is not acceptable. There are 4,600 signatories to this statement already added since last Thursday, including BjΓΆrn Ulvaeus, Julianne Moore, Kevin Bacon, F. Murray Abraham, Sir Kazuo Ishiguro, William Boyd CBE, Sir Ian Rankin, Thom Yorke (Radiohead), Max Richter, Joe Goddard (Hot Chip), Groove Armada, Dame Margaret Drabble, and many more.
Signatories among media & rightsholder organisations are also growing. Among others, thereβs the Society of Authors, the Music Publishers Association, Professional Photographers of America, the Copyright Alliance, the Publishers Association, UK Music, DACS, etc.
You can sign it here at

and will be asked to verify your email address (only for this purpose).
Your signature will be listed publicly when the letter is launched next week.
Many thanks.
Kind regards,
Isabelle
