2020 is drawing to a close and I’m sitting downstairs mimosa in hand listening to Baptiste and Anatole play and be silly upstairs before we sit down for dinner as a family.

That’s what I’ll remember about 2020, drinking coffee,reading books and cuddles with my boys and cats in bed, long walks and daily visits to the park.

Watching with amazement as Anatole grew from newborn to toddler.

Observing the strongest bond built between my boys over lockdown and just the happiness that the time out and time spent at home has brought to our household.

Despite everything this year we managed to be the best parents we could, buy our first house, a car and even kept some house plants alive! It’s been one hell of a ride and an uphill climb but I’m so proud of us.

Bring on 2021, no expectations, no pressure just happy vibes, working hard and enjoying what we are building as a family ❤️

Here’s to you, a new year and a new start for all of us 🥂

Daylight savings! Wow I just checked and it’s only 8:[email protected]😅 babies don’t care if we have an extra hour or not so our house have been up for a few hours already today but oh my goodness it’s been productive!

Editing 3 weddings at once ✔️

What a beautiful idea and outcome by my lovely Album
Supplier Folio Albums Hub every time I receive a client album from them I get goosebumps! They are so beautifully handcrafted and really are a keepsake to keep for generations ❤️

Recently we worked with Him & Her Wedding Photography to create a unique and beautiful memory book for Lisa’s beloved Grandma who unfortunately has Dementia. Lisa interviewed her Grandma and family members to put together a book of her life, including personal messages from loved ones and finished with cover personalisation in her Grandmas hand writing. Here’s what Lisa said when the book arrived:

My Grandma unfortunately has dementia. With the help from Folio and my family, I put together a memory book for her. I literally cried when I opened it - Folio have done an amazing job. A lovely lady called Milly proofread the whole book for me. Stewart took the time and effort to explain patiently how bleeds, etc work last thing on a Friday and helped me set up my indesign document and Becky kept emailing to double check things which was also greatly appreciated.

We think this is a lovely idea and beautiful sentiment and she’s even turned it into a business to offer these unique albums to everyone My Memory Book 💙

Love ALWAYS wins and not covid nor the rain could dampen the mood yesterday at Jess and Ian’s beautiful wedding. Over the past two years these two have become some of our closest friends and I got super emotional seeing them tie the knot yesterday. Thank you for all your kind comments everyone, despite what the government are saying about wedding businesses not being viable I know undoubtedly that it’s not true. I wouldn’t change my job for the world.
I’m still buzzing from the weekend and capturing images like this one of @adambrook_ and @mrsbeckybrook wrapped up in love on their wedding day remind me that there will always be weddings and love and happiness.

On the first of January 2020 I brought in the new year holding my 2 week old son in the midst of the changes fresh postpartum brings the pain and the joy and I thought that this new adventure of motherhood was going to be my biggest challenge of 2020.

In February I shot my first wedding of the year, excited to be back but nervous to leave my tiny son in the safe hands of my sister. It was so hard but it was wonderful and I loved every second being back at what I do best capturing moments of love and happiness. Little did I know it would be the end of September before I picked up my wedding kit again.

There’s nothing better than sharing a wedding day with my amazing couples, they welcome me with open arms and let me into their world and I love finding out their stories and history via their loved ones. It’s a true honour to be chosen to photograph a wedding and one I am always extremely emotionally invested in. I cried happy tears at both weddings this past weekend.

So when I am asked “so do you have a real job as well? ” as much as the intentions are innocent it saddens me. This is my real job, I’ve worked hard for almost 20 years to get to this point in my career. My first day in University in Jan 2003 I attended my first Photography 101 class and I graduated with a Bachelor of Design majoring in Photographic Design in 2008 in the middle of a global recession and now I am clawing my way back from Maternity leave through a global pandemic. It’s not been a straight or easy road so far and the future is far from that but I am not letting go of my dreams and neither should anyone else especially those planning on marrying the love of their life and even though my own wedding plans are in hold for now I’m not letting go of that either.

Love always wins and I’ve never seen such dedication and hard work than in the Wedding industry, let’s keep going we will get through this ❤️ #whataboutweddings

I’ve the next couple of weeks I’m going to be sharing some images from my gorgeous couples who have all recently celebrated their first Wedding Anniversary. You are all on my mind and in my heart 💕 first up are these two beautiful humans and fellow cat parents! In the lead up to Charly and James Wedding most of our WhatsApp conversations consisted purely of photos of our cats - it was the best thing ever 🐱❤️

If only the UK had acted as well as NZ... makes me proud of my country but sad that we are still so far away from this b...
