Last weekend I went to a district conference as the photographer — ready to capture headshots, portraits and the energy of the day. Then I was pulled on stage for a table topics challenge and found myself sharing a childhood “buttered bread” memory. Unexpected? Absolutely. Memorable? Even more so.

Being behind the lens taught me something familiar in a new way: authenticity and a little humour connect people faster than the perfect pose. That’s what I aim for with every headshot and event I cover in Croydon and across London — making clients feel comfortable, confident and real.

I spent the London Marathon moving between Woolwich and Tower Hill, camera in hand — and discovered that the race is really a collection of quiet, powerful stories. Runners carried causes, communities and months of sacrifice in their steps. They wanted to be seen — not for vanity, but for validation.

I photographed volunteers holding steady in the quiet moments, runners pushing through the final miles, and strangers who became teammates for a day. Two athletes broke records, thousands surpassed what they thought possible, and every portrait I took held a why.

Shooting in an all‑white studio is no joke, especially when everyone turns up in light garments. Every reflection, every shadow, every tiny shift in exposure mattered. And with a long queue of people and very little time, the pressure was real.
But the purpose made it worth it.
Capturing these portraits for MORChurch’s Glory to Glory music launch felt bigger than just a shoot — it was about honouring people, presenting them well, and contributing to something meaningful.
Clean. Simple. Powerful.

Working with a large number of people in a tight studio space requires precision, planning, and clear direction. With an all‑white environment and many participants wearing light garments, maintaining consistency across every portrait became a technical challenge — but one worth embracing.

Despite the time pressure and limited room to manoeuvre, everyone moved with purpose. We organised each group carefully, kept the flow steady, and ensured every individual received the attention needed for a clean, confident headshot.
