Bardo Casting Call:
Hello, everybody. With my first two short films wrapped – one due for release August 31st, the other
when we get through the edit – I’ve began preparation on the follow-up.
This role is, as it stands, unpaid. (We are working on trying to secure external funding, so this may
or may not change. I also understand it’s a contentious topic, so am just being transparent.)
Food and transport costs, of course, will be compensated.
Locations and dates are yet to be set. I believe it makes more sense to cast your film and then select
dates, than the other way around. That way you get the best talent, when it’s convenient for them.

Bardo, a short film.
When one day Frank wakes up from a drinking session to discover he now inhabits the body of a
beautiful young woman, he is left utterly bemused. With no idea what to do, he seeks out to find
‘himself’, and the two decide to team up to understand how or why this could be happening –
culminating in being forced to confront a terrible mistake.
Characters needed:
Frank (Male) – Twenty-five to late thirties, male, any ethnicity.
A lonely alcoholic, he stumbles out of bed one morning to find himself confronted with a beautiful
woman claiming to be him. Naturally, he is a little confused by this. When she tells him something
only he could know, it re-awakens the haze of a long-lost memory, and forces him to confront a
horrible truth – he is indeed facing himself. Together, the two of them head of on a spiritual odysseyof regret, guilt, self-acceptance and responsibility.
The Figure In The Dark (Male , any ethnicity)
An Deva who exists in a state of Limbo, this cloaked figure is clearly a higher power with great knowledge and a commanding presence.
The Seer (Female, any age)
An enigmatic figure the Two Franks come upon during their odyssey. Neutral, yet curious, she plays
with them before pointing them in the right direction.
The Police Officer (Male or Female, any ethnicity – thirties to mid-fourties)
A seasoned officer on their usual beat, they stumble upon a disoriented and babbling Frank, who
forces them to listen to their story.
Frank’s Mother (Female, any ethnicity – mid-fourties to late fifties)
Frank’s Mother – a kindly, caring woman – who should not be here, as she took her own life five
years ago. Gently, she tries to guide the lost and the damned.
‘Slim’ Jimmy McNeill (Male, any ethnicity – young, late-teens)
A young, happenin’ lad who loved the sesh and loved the birds, and was Frank’s best friend in his
younger days. Appears in a flashback sequence, in which the truth is finally confirmed.
