This morning’s Art Adventure took a little inspiration from Chiharu Shiota, who’s currently exhibiting at the Hayward Gallery—and it gave us the perfect starting point to explore our own stories.

We dived into memories of people and places from our own journeys, playing with texture, colour, words and textiles to gently weave everything together. It was all about experimenting, reflecting, and supporting wellbeing through creativity (with a bit of gratitude woven in too).

And honestly… what a gorgeous morning for it. Sunshine, ideas flowing, and the loveliest group—such a joy to work with. So much imagination and so many stories shared.

Come join us on the next Art Adventure ✨

Spent today at the Hayward Gallery with my kids, exploring the work of Chiharu Shiota and Yin Xiuzhen—and what a beautiful, immersive experience it was.

Shiota’s intricate webs of red thread invited us to wander, pause, and lose ourselves in ideas of memory, connection, and absence. There’s something powerful about how her work makes the invisible—emotions, histories—feel almost tangible.

In contrast, Yin Xiuzhen’s playful yet thoughtful combinations of glass, ceramics, and fabric felt deeply tactile and human. Her use of everyday materials speaks to personal and collective stories, transformation, and the passage of time.

It’s such a dynamic exhibition—rich in texture, material, and meaning—yet still accessible and engaging for families. We left feeling inspired, full of ideas, and already dreaming up what this might spark in our upcoming clubs.

Definitely worth a visit ✨

Finally carved out a moment to step out and into a gallery ✨ Spent it at the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize 2026 at The Photographers’ Gallery — and it was 100% worth it.

The show brings together some really strong, thoughtful projects, but the one that stayed with me most was René Matić’s As Opposed to the Truth. It feels raw and intimate— blending personal and political in a way that doesn’t over-explain itself, just lets you feel it.

Also really loved Donna Gottschalk’s work —( seperate to DBP) probably my favourite overall. There’s something so honest and quietly powerful in how it captures community, identity, and everyday life- I LOVE black and white photography.

If you’re nearby and need a reset or a bit of inspiration, I’d definitely recommend making time for it .

So special to reconnect with an old friend and see her work flourishing 💛

Aasha ( )has been in residence with developing a deeply personal body of woven work that brings fresh eyes to her family upbringing. Using natural fibres and archival photographs from her family album, she quite literally weaves her history. Her current work centres craft as a form of resistance—embracing the intricate, repetitive rituals of making as acts of connection, care, and reflection. Quiet, powerful, and beautifully considered.

She also ran a brilliant CPD session for art teachers, opening up honest discussion about the curriculum: what works, what doesn’t, and what really matters if we want to make space for our own practice in the classroom (you can spot my mini weave of “importance” ). Loved meeting new faces and hearing so many passionate voices and ideas.

But my favourite part? Cheering on the success of an old friend with absolute pride. Such a well-deserved opportunity—can’t wait to see what comes next ✨

I visited the Infinite Bodies exhibition at Somerset House and left genuinely inspired. I love when different art forms collide — light, movement, sound — and this exhibition brings them together in a really powerful way.

It explores what it means to move, feel, and be human as our bodies intersect with technology, but it does so gently and beautifully rather than fearfully. Through immersive works and live performance, the line between audience and dancer begins to blur.

The live perfonce, Max Richter & Nick Knight were my highlights ...

I often carry a quiet unease about AI and its future, but this felt thoughtful, poetic, and deeply human.

Highly recommend — it’s something a little different 🤍

As 2025 wraps up, I just want to say a big thank you to all the kids, mums and babies who’ve joined Meet & Makes, Art Adventures and Mums & Earth Art Clubs 🤍

Starting Hannah Hodgson Art & Wellbeing just 6 months ago has been such a positive journey, and it truly wouldn’t have happened without your support and shared love for creativity and wellbeing. It’s been lovely meeting so many new faces and creating alongside such inspiring mums and children.

Here’s to 2026 — more creativity, connection and a little extra calm ✨

Christmas Art Club: Our December Doves took flight! We had the most Zen afternoon embossing birds and stars whilst creating wall hangings to represent peace. We looked at Matisse & Emily Kame Kngwarreye for dove and pattern inspiration.

The results ... joyful colour oozing from every curve and delightful shimmering textures bouncing from our wall hangings. Well done to all our makers 🥰

We may also have gone candy cane fishing... and had a little Xmas sing (Hazel- we love your singing!)

Merry Christmas all- that was the last session of 2025. It's been a blast!

Join us in 2026 for our next kids art adventure- see you there Xx
