Gin Fizz Photographic

Gin Fizz Photographic Gin Fizz Photographic specialises in fine art wedding and portrait photography. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t inspired to make beautiful images of life.

Gin Fizz is run by Helen Rimell who has both an MA and undergraduate degree in Documentary Photography and Photojournalism. Helen has won a number of awards for her work, including the Hugo-Young Guardian Newspaper Internship. I called my company Gin Fizz Photographic as I wanted something that reminded me of my Grandparents, who were married in 1937 and were so important to me, their love for one

another was so strong and inspiring. I also wanted a name that had a feeling of celebration, happiness, sunshine, and great times. I am so passionate about photography, the wonderful art you can create with light, the fact that you can freeze a little piece of time in a photograph, preserve a moment or a memory forever. And I am in love with love. Every wedding I do is an absolute pleasure to shoot; getting up for work of a morning always puts a smile on my face. When I am not shooting wonderful nuptials and lovely couples I work as a documentary photographer and photojournalist, covering stories in India, Afghanistan, Kashmir and New Zealand, as well as the UK. I have exhibited work in a number of photo festivals and galleries around the world, and have been published in The Guardian, The Times, The Independent, The Times of India, and Vice Magazine. I am represented by Agency Le Pictorium. If you would like to see more of my documentary work, please do take a look here: www.helenrimell.co.uk. I bring my experience in photojournalism into all my wedding and portrait work; I capture every detail, the laughter, the tears, and the beautiful, sometimes fleeting looks between you both. I draw on my experience with, and love of people to ensure that your personality, individuality and style are visible throughout my photographs. I want each one of my images to exude all the emotions and feelings of the day. I prefer to use natural and available light to create beautiful, atmospheric, artistic work. When I am not working or travelling, which is another great love of mine, then you will most likely find me dancing, often in stunning Art Deco ballrooms around London, as I am an avid Lindy Hopper. I love swing dancing as much for the music as the dancing, I am a big jazz fan; the clothes are also rather fabulous. I am also very fond of the ocean, the sunshine, walks in the park, love, laughter, art, food, friends, family, wonderful old black and white films, and of course a Gin Fizz. I am happy, creative, adventurous, and very easy to get along with, I love to work with couples looking for something artistic, timeless, and real from their wedding photography. If you like my work and would like to find out more, then please do get in touch. Gin Fizz Photographic would love to tell the story of your day with a relaxed, natural style, creating gorgeous images that will last a lifetime.

Gemma and Simon met at a surf competition, on a beach, in France. So it felt only natural that their wedding day would begin the same way; by the sea, with the day still quiet, and the light just starting to shift. Before anything else, it was just the three of us on the beach in Uvita. No crowds, soft morning light and the familiar rhythm of the ocean. The kind of start that felt completely true to them.

Their story has always been shaped by movement and place. They spend months each year travelling; drawn to warmer climates, hiking, surfing, and living a little differently. They got engaged in Patagonia, found their rings in Chile, and chose to get married here, on their favourite beach in Uvita, Costa Rica.

The rest of the day followed at that same ease; a small group of their closest people, a picnic on the sand, and vows at sunset.

Gemma, who works in film, had a clear vision for something beautifully lit and considered, but still raw and honest. Simon, who would usually stay far away from the camera, settled into it in a way that felt completely natural.

Nothing forced, nothing performative, just space to be themselves.

Light moves first.

Before the dress is lifted, before the shoes are stepped into; it finds the room, rests on the edges and waits quietly with what’s about to unfold.

Some moments aren’t made. They’re met; in the light, exactly as it falls. If images like this feel like something you want to hold onto, I’d love to chat.

A little hello, if you’re new here!

I spent the weekend meeting so many lovely people, talking about your plans, your ideas, and the way you want your day to feel, not just how you want it to look.

My work is rooted in light and emotions; documenting what happens naturally, combined with a little direction to create the most beautiful art whilst still telling your story and capturing all the authentic moments.

I’m really looking forward to hearing from you, and to the possibility of capturing your gorgeous celebration of love!

There’s something so special about taking a moment to pause and capture yourselves, just as you are.

A couple shoot isn’t about perfection or posing, it’s about connection. The laughter, the quiet glances, the way you naturally fall into one another. Moments that might otherwise pass by, gently held and turned into something lasting.

A little pocket of time, carved out just for you. Memories to return to, again and again. If this speaks to you, let’s capture something of your own!

The lovely Cleo and Aria. Beautiful, inside and out, and such a joy to photograph.

We had hoped for golden hour, but just as we were about to begin, the clouds rolled in and softened the sun, shifting the light entirely. And yet, it felt like a gift. At the edge of the woodland, the light began to fall away into shadow, slipping quietly between the trees. Soft, moody, and full of atmosphere. The kind of light that invites stillness, that wraps gently around a moment and turns it into something cinematic, almost dreamlike.

Cleo and Aria moved through it so naturally. Laughter, closeness, quiet pauses. The kind of connection that doesn’t need direction, only space to unfold. We created something beautifully poetic together. Honest, atmospheric, and full of feeling.

The in-between moments are often where the real story lives. The quiet seconds that unfold naturally; a glance, a touch, a breath before the laughter. Small, fleeting things that might pass unnoticed in the moment, yet hold so much feeling when you return to them later.

The way hands reach instinctively for one another. A soft smile shared when no one else is looking. The gentle pause between one moment and the next, where everything feels still for just a second.

These are the moments that shape the true rhythm of the day. Subtle, unguarded, and beautifully real. The kind that may pass in a heartbeat, but somehow carry the deepest feeling when they are held in a photograph.

A study in romance and drama at

Deep burgundy and wine-dark reds settling into the shadows, a palette that feels almost theatrical; bold, romantic, impossible to ignore.

At the centre of it all, a striking crimson silhouette. A structured corset wrapped in layers of rich tulle, softened by an untamed flourish of flowers and fern leaves gathered at the waist. Petals and foliage spilling forward like a wild garden in bloom, blurring the line between fashion and nature.

Everything about this moment feels cinematic, dramatic, and unapologetically romantic. The kind of imagery that doesn’t whisper, but lingers; bold, expressive, and entirely a statement.

Another one from Janet and Ambrose’s celebration!

After the ceremony, everyone gathered at in North London; an effortlessly cool restaurant and bar transformed entirely by Ambrose and Janet’s own hands. Thoughtful details. Layers of colour. A room filled with warmth, laughter and intention.

Long tables overflowing with sharing platters of Mediterranean food, conversation flowing, glasses raised and laughter rolling easily through the room as friends and family settled into the evening.

Downstairs, a hidden corner lined with records; music, movement, the quiet hum of a celebration gathering pace.

The speeches? Brilliantly sharp, wickedly funny. The kind that leave a room breathless with laughter one moment, quietly emotional the next.

Ambrose and Janet have been together for years, with two children, a life already beautifully built. This day felt less like a beginning and more like a pause in the story. A gathering of everyone they love, celebrating the life they’ve already created together.

There is something timeless about a venue like All Hallows Church.

Stone softened by centuries. Quiet echoes beneath vaulted ceilings. Light drifting slowly through tall windows, spilling across the pews in long ribbons of gold. In spaces like this, light becomes its own kind of poetry.

It wraps gently around Janet and Ambrose, finding the quiet moments between them. A glance, a smile held just a little longer, the soft gravity of two people deeply, unmistakably in love.

These images were always going to live beautifully in black and white. Stripped back to light and shadow, to shape and feeling. To the way love reveals itself in the smallest gestures.

Something almost painterly. Still. Intimate. A moment of devotion, held quietly in time.

A winter wedding in Cardiff, wrapped in mist and rain!

The city stretched out beyond the windows of their beautiful old hotel, softened by low clouds and drifting grey skies. The weather was wild and restless, but somehow perfect. Rain on the glass, mist in the air, deep burgundy and dark green tones settling beautifully into the quiet drama of a January day.

There was emotion woven through every moment. The kind that sits gently beneath the surface, felt in glances and steady hands. Daryl’s mum, so dearly missed, present in spirit even as the day unfolded. Tommy’s sister too, remembered with love.

When it came time to walk the aisle, both boys were guided forward by their mothers. A moment full of tenderness and quiet strength. Daryl’s uncle stood beside them as best man, more like a father in all the ways that matter. It was a day full of feeling, deep love, quiet remembrance, and the unmistakable joy of two people surrounded by those who hold them close.

As the evening gathered and the music grew louder, the emotion softened into celebration. Laughter, dancing, and the kind of party that carries the warmth of the whole day with it!

“You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope.”

Romance looks different on everyone.

Sometimes it’s quiet glances across the room, soft laughter shared in the in-between moments, the gentle gravity that pulls two people back to one another again and again. Not the grand gestures, but the small, instinctive things; the way hands find each other without thinking, the way a smile lingers just a little longer.

It lives in those fleeting seconds of closeness, in the quiet understanding that sits between two people who know one another deeply. Subtle, unspoken, and entirely their own.

Throwing it back to this editorial-style shoot, what a joy to create!

Michelle and Dylan are based in California, so the early ideas began across oceans, drifting between FaceTime calls and shared inspiration before eventually settling on the magnificent St Pancras Renaissance Hotel. A place where drama and elegance live in every corner.

The whole shoot unfolded as a true collaboration, ideas building and evolving as we moved through the space, chasing beautiful light and those moments where everything simply falls into place. When I saw that particular shaft of light spilling across the staircase, I knew instantly we had to use it. Michelle and Dylan needed no convincing, completely trusting the vision, even if it meant lying across the grand steps to make the image sing.

Those are always the moments where the magic happens.

I adore working with couples who are open to something a little different. The ones willing to lean into the art of it all, to play, to trust the process, and create something striking, stylish and entirely their own.
