Before every shoot I like to get to know my families better, as a way to tell your story as authentically as possible. With this incredible family, I cried hearing about their journey.

This week I found myself trying to clear the muddy ‘documentary’ water as I tried to explain to friends of mine who are reluctant to do a shoot because ‘they aren’t camera people’. But, as I fumbled through an explanation it got me thinking that, we (me included) just use this word way too much!

In our house, the post-bath routine isn’t just about putting on PJs. It’s a full-blown game of hide-and-seek and problem-solving engineered by their dad.

We’ve been told that family photography only belongs on a beach at sunset in perfectly coordinated linen. But I hate to break it to you: these are the unconventional, ordinary moments you’ll actually be crying over in 20 years.

The pajamas stuffed behind the couch cushions. The pure joy of a living room adventure. The way they look at their dad like he’s a superhero for making the mundane magnificent.

Sharing a few favourites from my special time with .jane_lee and her crew. We had the best morning, jumping, tatooing, sliding and eating.

It’s daunting to start your business afresh in a new country, and Sarah has been the biggest cheerleader, friend and encourager. Spending the morning with her left me energised and hopeful.

I mean, she is so inspiring! she’s built two amazing brands that uplift others ( and ) and continues to be so supportive of other entrepreneurial mums.

Ané was one of the first friendly faces I met after moving back to Ballito. Getting to do this shoot with her and her family was so special! We had a wonderful time exploring their farm on a sunny afternoon and it was truly unforgettable.

We often think family photos need to happen in front of a scenic backdrop in our best clothes. But I’ve realised that the photos with the most ‘soul’ are the ones where your kids are actually doing life with you.

There is something so special about documenting your children as they step into your world—trying your favourite hobby, learning to use their hands, and sharing a passion with the people they look up to most.

Whether it’s woodwork in the garage, baking in a flour-covered kitchen, or learning to surf in the Salt Rock tide—these are the unscripted moments that build their history.

Stop waiting for ‘tidy’ to document your now.

I know the feeling. The pressure to have a home that looks like a showroom, where every toy is put away and life is in order.

But here’s what I’ve learnt: Your kids aren’t going to remember the day the house was perfectly clean. They’re going to remember the Saturday morning we played hide and seek in a mountain of unfolded washing.

When you look back in twenty years, you won’t wish the house was tidier. You’ll wish you could jump back into that pile of laundry and hear those belly laughs one more time.

I’m Chloe, and my sessions are a total judgment-free zone. Whether we’re at Salt Rock Beach or in the middle of your ‘lived-in’ living room, I’m here to document the heart, not the house.

Adding colour to London's gray winter days 🌸🌼🪻🌹

Before every photoshoot, I send out a questionnaire to get to know the family better. For this fun shoot, mentioned how refreshing her kids' colourful clothing was in the dull season, so we leant into that and went for a colourful splash!
