Such amazing animals to see in the lush green forests of the Republic of Congo and Central African Republic. It’s a pleasure to see a couple of my photos included in the article.

Forest elephants have finally been granted species status along with another, shocking IUCN classification - critically endangered

Covid-19 is having a devastating impact on protect areas in Africa. The pandemic has brought the international tourism sector to a standstill, along with critical revenue for wildlife and communities. I am proud to share that I, along with more than 80 other globally renowned wildlife photographers, have come together for the "Prints for Wildlife" campaign (www.printsforwildlife.org) to provide limited edition prints for sale. One hundred percent of the proceeds (after printing and handling) will be donated to African Parks (www.africanparks.org) so they can continue to protect wildlife and deliver benefits to local communities during these challenging times.

The prints cost US$100 and are printed as limited editions, up to 50 prints only. Each print is printed on Hanemule natural line h**p fine art paper. I am delighted to have been able to share this image of a Zebra in the Sergengeti National Park in Tanzania for the campaign, together with many talented photographers who have shared their incredible work.

Please visit www.printsforwildlife.org to see the full collection of images for sale and help protect wildlife and support local communities. The campaign ends on 26 August 2020, so hurry to choose your favourite print.

Finally, huge thanks in particular need to go to Marion Payr and Pie Aerts for making this inspiring campaign come to life and to all of the African Parks team for their dedication and hard work. Please follow on Instagram, as well as , , and . Thank you for your support.

Mother and cub polar bears on the retreating sea ice around Svalbard. These almost white bears are not easy to find, but when you do it is incredibly special to see these animals in their world of snow and ice. These animals are classified as marine mammals and they require the sea ice to hunt and survive, but sadly their environment is fragile and shrinking, with global warming and hunting challenging their future existence.

A Fleeting Encounter. A highlight of any Arctic adventure is meeting one of the world’s top predators, the Polar Bear. Somewhat disappointingly, this mother and cub were not your typical curious bears, appearing nervous and unwilling to hang around. Hopefully this is not an omen for the species..
Which brings me to this important message: I would encourage anyone interested in polar bears and conservation to order this book: POLAR BEARS & HUMANS, by . From hunting (yes, people actually hunt polar bears, why?!) to climate change, this book is a vital analysis of the threat facing this iconic species and one which I was delighted to support. There are of course plenty of amazing photos as well!

Waving? Shy? Giving me the flipper? Or just done with the photos? One of the satisfying elements of wildlife photography is being lucky enough to see animals like this walrus up close in its natural environment and another is leaving the animal undisturbed, as we did with this walrus, lazily resting on it's own little piece of ice. Taken on my last trip with Arctic experts and . Also check out the talented who joined us.

Mother and Calf. This was the sea level view of the mother and calf walrus – see my previous post for an overhead shot – as the and M/S Origo team gently nudged the ship closer to the drifting ice. Walrus are very protective of their young and will quickly slip into the water if they feel threatened. This calf looked pretty relaxed and comfortable! , , ,

Walrus on Ice. It was so much fun to be able to get a bird’s eye view of the icy environment around Svalbard and a bonus to cruise over this mother and calf as they rested on drifting ice, with my Mavic 2 Pro flying almost silently, high above. , , ,

I am about to head back home after 12 days in the Arctic, exploring Svalbard and the icy waters around. My Mavic 2 Pro provided amazing perspective, including this photo of the M/S Origo in the ice of one of Spitsbergen’s many incredible fjords on our second evening. As always, and from the team showed they are the best of the best when it comes to exploring the polar regions. ⠀⠀ . . . ⠀⠀

The calm before the storm. Blue skies, dark inky waters, a world of white peaks and of course ice, perfect conditions for getting high over the stunning Raudfjorden in the far North of Spitsbergen and flying the Mavic 2 Pro. The sense of scale in the Arctic is hard to describe and capture. This was one of the better weather days of the trip and before we had to hold on for the upcoming storm and flee South. , , , with
