Welcome to the Sharking for Chips and Drinks page – a food and travel blog by writer-photographer team Nic Crilly-Hargrave and Helen Alexander . Launched in 2010 after we arrived in Melbourne – having spent a few years in London covering the culinary scene for several publications –
the site has gone from strength to strength. We have been featured in The Age food and drink supplement several times, most notably within a cover story focusing on Melbourne’s lunchtime dining scene, and in 2013 were named the best food and travel blog in Expedia’s inaugural Blogger of the Year Competition. This has seen us spend the past year and a half completing a range of exciting assignments for their blog – Out There Starts Here. It was a tough decision, but we left Melbourne mid-2014 for a stint in Asia. Based in Kuala Lumpur for the foreseeable future – with long-term plans to return to our beloved London – the blog is in save hands and will continue to cover Australia and the rest of the world thanks to an ever-expanding team of writers. Nat Stockley (aka the King of Urbanspoon) and Erin ‘healthy eating’ Dooley will keep you posted on all the latest Melbourne and Victoria happenings, and we are currently lining up some much-needed NSW coverage from a couple of hungry Sydneysiders. Over in London, our man about town Ben Crilly continues to chart the capital’s hot spots. And of course, we will be feasting on everything from street food to fine dining across Asia.
