Behind the Scenes is always a popular category amongst the industry leading EPA judges, who know all about the unseen expertise that goes into producing amazing events...

Mexican photographer, , has just entered a collection of atmospheric images into this revealing category from last year’s Festival Cervatina, which was a live-streamed event. The images might also be mentioned for both the Covid Chronicles category and EPA Portfolio Award.

A great first entry into the new Portraits category by Ian Knight, a past winner of the EPA Best Amateur award. The impromptu ‘Backstage’ shot of Ruby J was taken just after a superb performance at the Sugarmill music venue in Hanley.

Portraiture is a classic photography genre – and people are intrinsic to events… So, we very much look forward to seeing more submissions into this important new category. Please do keep in mind that entries need to be in the context of an event, so anything from a corporate away-day or a wedding, to backstage at a conference, or in this case, a concert.

The very first image entered into this year’s double-quick competition comes from the current Music Events category crown wearer 🔥

“The First of Many” was taken at one of the primary post-pandemic test events that thankfully signaled the return to large-scale gatherings in the UK.

We look forward to sharing more early entries, including shots from the special one-off ‘Covid Chronicles’ category... But remember, entries close on 31st July, so best to be an early bird!

📸 Entries for the 2022 competition are now open – for images captured during both 2020 & 2021. Two new categories this year are the classic photography genre Portraits, plus a special one-off class: Covid Chronicles.

With the awards night booked for 4th October at No.4 Hamilton Place in Mayfair, we need to get our skates on, so please pick pics from your portfolios ASAP as entries close at the end of July!
