Popped up in my memories from a few years ago and still love this set. So much protocol when photographing a Royal, and Iā€™m genuinely proud of how these turned out ā€” especially as the only younger woman among a very seasoned (and slightly intimidating) press pack. She was also a joy to photograph, which always helps. I think this job was for Islington council.

Whitechapel, 1999, this was my first photography assignment of my art foundation course (London Guildhall in Aldgate East). Brief was to walk around Whitechapel/aldgate/Spitalfields and put a role of b&w film through the camera, process it and make a contact sheet and prints. So much good urban decay around there, even still in 1999 and I found as much as I could - obviously. So glad I wasn't embarrassed about what I was drawn to becuase this is such a nice contact sheet.

I'm gutted to hear that Martin Parr has passed away, he was an hero to me - and so many of us. So much of what I learned through his books and exhibitions and even a lecture once at Brighton university on my photography degree, 25 years ago, has influenced the photographer I am right now. London friends please come and see me shop that I've helped to set up with my pottery friends .ceramics .ceramics and we will all be selling our ceramics along with 10 plus other makers from our studio .inproduction in Leyton.
It's running from the 3rd of December to the 7th with late night shopping opportunities, we are at 198 Hackney Road. I'm going to be there every day and most late night evenings apart from Saturday, See you there please! šŸ§”
