The Elizabeth Line 💜🚆

After many years, the much awaited opened to the public yesterday.

A real architectural masterpiece with a very efficient and smooth operation going on! Well impressed.

Today marks the end of 92 years to long distance services to/from Brighton.

A memorable experience for all involved. Nice to see some friendly faces & colleagues!

35018 ‘British India Line’ passing through Redbridge, with the return working of the The Railway Touring Company’s ‘The Bournemouth Express’ Railtour.

Starting from London Victoria, the tour headed to Bournemouth, followed by Weymouth; where 35018 would be serviced.

Due to the locomotive being unable to be turned, Class 47 no. 47245, dragged the return from Weymouth to Southampton. With 35018 taking lead to London Victoria, via Romsey.

The Red & Yellow Bannana 🟥🟨

Been a while since my last post here!

Here’s a little snap of a recent working;

In the last two days, Network Rail ran their four-weekly Test Train, the NMT (New Measurement Train).

On it was Network Rails newly acquired (ex-EMR) powercar 43299 and Network Rail’s very own 43061 ‘John Armitt’.

Here’s another post regarding eBay listings (sorry!);

Selling my Nikon 10-20mm f/4.5-6.5 DX VR Lens which has been my primary go to Ultra-Wide for landscapes & long-exposures.

Pristine with only small marks on the plastic mount.

Nikon 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6 VR Ultra-Wide DX Lens. Condition is "Used". Selling my hardly used Nikon 10-20mm lens. Only used for long exposure photography but due to me upgrading to a full frame body, this lens will become obsolete to me. Even though it’s a DX ultra-wide, still re...

Odd little post, but just so people are aware!

I’ve listed my liquid damaged Nikon D500 body and my Nikon MB-DC17 grip on eBay for those who are interested;

Nikon D500 Body:
Been my pride and joy since I’ve had it over the 2+ years and sadly encountered a mishap with a drink recently. Due to the nature of the issue it’s much better for me to upgrade rather than repairing the D500, hence this post.

It’s in great condition (excellent I’d say) with only very minor cosmetic marks due to use.

Potentially the issue is with the power unit on the camera (which has caused it not to turn on at all) but not 100% certain. Sensor & Display seem intact too.

I’d hope it’s a nice easy fix for someone as it’s still got so much more life in it and would be a shame for it to be binned. Either way, I hope someone can make use of it!

Nikon MB-DC17 (D500 Grip):
To accommodate the D500 is my MC-DC17 grip. This is unaffected by the issues outlined above. Again has a few minor cosmetic marks on the grip but other than that, it is in good condition!

Again, really hope someone can make use of these brilliant bits of kit. Any questions let me know!

Happy New Year everyone!

Wow, what a year we've all had!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas & I wish everyone a very happy New Year.

Here's a selection of some of my favourite images from 2020. As always, its difficult to select my favourites as theres just many!

The main highlight of the year has to be the locomotive pans; always wanted to try to do one and was really happy that I've been able to pull some off!

And then to top it off; the D500 died last week, transitioning me now into Nikon's Mirrorless world with the new Z 7II. Hopefully that'll bring better opportunity in the future with Long Exposures, Landscape and Wildlife photography.

Anyway, here's a few highlights of 2020:

1. Marsh Barton, Exeter - Class 47 (Dartmouth Regatta Statesman Tour)

2. STEAM, Swindon - GWR King

3. Totnes, Devon - LMS Black Five (Royal Dutchy Tour)

4. Marsh Barton, Exeter - Class 66

5. Exminster, Exeter - Class 66 (HOBC)

6. Crewe, Cheshire - Class 43 HST (LSLs Midland Pullman)

7. Ryde St Johns Road, Isle of Wight - Class 483

8. Crewe, Cheshire - SR Rebuilt West Country Class Bulleid (Christmas White Rose Tour)

And that's basically it for 2020!
I wish everyone a very Happy New Year & all the best for 2021

- Ben 😀👍

The Christmas White Rose 🎄🌹

Recently had the pleasure of being able to travel to Crewe with Harry, to view the last railtour of the 2020 season; Saphos Trains' 'The Christmas White Rose' from Telford Central - York (return).

The tour featured a bit of mixed traction from Locomotive Services Limited, being (tnt) Class 47s no's. 47853 & 47805 (D1935) 'Roger Hosking MA', which hauled the tour between Telford & Crewe. While the main attraction was SR Rebuilt West Country Class Bulleid , no. 34046 'Braunton' which hauled the tour between Crewe & York.

Was also nice to experiment with some long-exposure shots of the locos, thanks to winter evenings., of which I'm mostly pretty happy about. Other photos taken within the trip will be uploaded in due course! Plus thank Facebook for degrading the quality!

My thanks go to Locomotive Services Limited and their talented loco crew's & to the staff at Saphos Trains. Great way to finish the 2020 railtour season and the year in general!

Lets hope next years a bit more pleasant!

The Midland Pullman... ⚪️🔵

LSLs latest addition seen arriving into Crewe, in the darkness, from Eastleigh Arlington.

Lots of mixed options about this; personally didn’t really like it but seeing it in person, i now have second thoughts! Needs some more white on the nose I think...

Bye Bye 483s 👋🏻🚉

Not long left before the islands LU 1938 stock retire from operations on the Island Line, after being some of the oldest rolling stock in operation on the network.

This is part of the Island Line upgrade by Network Rail which will see some major upgrades to the line, not seen in ages - plus the introduction of South Western Railway’s new D-Stock, Class 484s.

The 1938 stock have some real character to them and offer a totally different but interesting experience. Get em’ while you can!

King George V @ Steam - Museum of the Great Western Railway

One of my favourites from my recent trip to Swindon. Even though it’s a museum, still has some character from the steam days.

Wouldn’t mind doing a Timeline Events charter here at some point! Just need a smoke machine & lights/darkness.

End of the steam season for the South West...

Riley & Son E Ltd's LMS Stanier Class 5MT, no. 44871 marks the end of the steam railtour season for Devon/Cornwall with The Railway Touring Company's 'The Royal Dutchy' tour from Bristol TM - Par (Steam hauled as far as Plymouth).
