⚪️ Spanish C.16 Typhoon ⚪️
I wouldn't usually push the sliders on Lightroom around this much...
However, in this case with the Spanish Typhoon pushing 0.95Mach, it has been possible to see the transonic shock waves being produced as she tried to push through that minute barrier. The damp air also meant it created a great amount of fluff to accentuate this into a more visible form with those vapour cones forming around the front and rear fuselage. An amazing capture that I only managed on one frame!

A look back to the RAF Cosford airshow in 2024 with two SEPECAT Jaguar "Big Cat" line ups. One line up included the instructional Grey and Black schemed, single and twin seat airframes whilst the other included a mix of single and twin stick Jags in varying schemes worn throughout the Jaguar's operation service in the RAF.
A classic British aviation design loved by many and always a joy to see!

RAF Fairford recently hosted aircraft from Turkey and Romania as part of Excercise Ramstein Flag 25 and one such supporting aircraft based here was the Turkish Air Force KC-135 used for tanker support. Using "ASENA99" as its callsign for each flight, she supported the Turk and Romanian F-16s on missions out of the base.
Here is ASENA99 returning on a beautiful sunset evening with the first shot being just visible with the moon high above.

The 26th and 27th of March saw the retirement fly pasts of the venerable Puma, being retired after 54 years of solid use.
These aren't the best photos but they are more of a "I was there" thing. I headed out to RAF Brize Norton where they conducted a low pass before climbing out to a slightly higher altitude just before the end of the runway and turned to head to Defense Academy at Shrivenham.

Another pleasant surprise this morning was to find my photo of the Czech Gripen "9242" with the special Tiger Meet tail art arriving at RIAT2024, being used to advertise Revell's upcoming re-release of their Gripen kit with the same decal options! There will be proper box artwork to follow but Revell wanted an advertisement piece and kindly asked to use my photo! Might have to get the kit, build it and have it sat on the print now! 🤣

Happy new year to all my current followers!
My first night shoot complete (and first aviation related shoot of 2025) and it was a great one with The Buccaneer Aviation Group at Kemble (Cotswold Airport). Great to capture "that" photo of XX894 that everyone aims for with the wing folding. Great to also have XW544 lit up with the nose and panels open!
More photos to come but have these two for now!

Yesterday saw the last active service KC-10 retire to the infamous 'Boneyard', whilst today saw the final flights of the remaining in service Dutch F-16 fleet.
Both types were seen at RIAT24 and I'm glad to have photographed them whilst I had the opportunity.

Witnessed a piece of history this evening. The first jet powered drone to land at RAF Fairford.
RQ-4B '11-2046' as 'FORTE12' taxis in having landed on RWY09. Shut down on the taxiway and subsequently towed into the B-2 hangars after an almost 24 hour mission, having set off from NAS Sigonella, Sicily. Note that the "pilot" is probably somewhere in the US or Europe with his feet up! 😂

The Dragon chasing continued early this morning with DRAGON51 due to leave RAF Fairford, Akrotiri bound. Sadly, she never got off the ground with a communications issue which couldn't be resolved on the runway and so completed a 2 full length taxis to return back to the hangar.
As much as I didn't get photo of her in the air, I can now count this as my 22nd U-2 airframe caught and photographed since my first in 2017! With the impending retirement in the next year or so, I doubt I'll get many more chances for any different frames. Here's hoping though as this one hadn't visited since 2015!
