Gordon was born in Perthshire, Scotland in 1945. He was adopted as a baby after his Mother, a young single Mother was encouraged to do so by her family. He spent five years in foster care before being finally adopted at the age of seven by a kind and loving local family. Despite the difficult start to his life, Gordon embraced his new home and was grateful for the stability and love that his adoptive parents provided.

After finishing school, Gordon began working at the local post office. It was there that he met his future wife, Mary. They fell in love quickly and were married within a year. They went on to have two children, a son and a daughter.

Tragically, their eldest son passed away at the age of 16 in a road traffic incident. It was a devastating loss for the family, and they never fully recovered. Gordon and Mary were always grateful for the time they had with their son, and they cherished his memory for the rest of their lives.

Despite this tragedy, Gordon remained positive and continued to work hard to provide for his family. He eventually retired from the post office after 44 years of service, he walks many miles per day and can be seen talking to many of the locals on his route. His social interactions are an important source of his happiness and purpose, much like they were throughout his career.

She comes from a close-knit family whom she speaks fondly of. She has always been passionate about the outdoors. Growing up, she spent most of her time hiking, camping, and exploring the rugged Scottish Highlands with her parents and younger brother.

Laura's love for the outdoors led her to pursue a degree in environmental science, which she completed with honors at the University of Edinburgh. After graduation, she secured a job at an energy company, where she works to promote sustainable energy practices and reduce the company's carbon footprint.

Astrid, 64 living in Pollensa, Majorca. Astrid is originally from Rosario, Argentina. A vibrant and eclectic personality, bursting with energy and charm. She runs a small holiday apartment block just 10mins walk from the beautiful Port. She quickly talks of her children who now live and work in the UK, successful Architects of which she said is from her love of Architecture.

Astrid spends the peak of the season running the apartments tending to the guests and prides herself on the swimming pool and maintaining the crisp, clean and cooling waters for everyone.

Divorced from an “English man”, and “the Father of her children” as she refers to him, Astrid spends the rest of the year visiting her 3 children in the UK. There’s a loneliness behind her enigmatic smile and charm, taking every moment to speak to her guests, often for extended time. But her wise words and devilish charm are hard to resist and serve any rudeness towards.

Isa, 19 from Arta, on the Spanish Island of Majorca. Isa’s family own a small restaurant in the busy tourist town. In summer time, at the peak of the tourist season she helps in their restaurant, serving customers and tending to the kitchen’s needs. Her family rely on her for much of the summer leaving limited time for her friends. Two evenings a week she is free to enjoy life, she can often be found down at the waters edge, swimming in the tranquil warm Mediterranean Sea, drinking local vermouth as her and her friends savour this twilight moment, a moment of freedom.

Isa is frustrated, but her determined and committed character, coupled with her strong sense of family, encourage her onwards. Isa is studying to be an Architect, she describes books that she has read and magazines she saves. She is passionate about buildings that fuse the heritage and history of the old with the advancement of modern design. A reflection it seems of her own character, steeped in a sense of family commitment whilst embracing the new and evolving.

Isa’s desires to become an Architect leaves her torn, she knows the family business is important but she cannot deny her own innate drive to her future. A future, which she is all too aware leaves her own heritage in jeopardy.

Paquito, 54 Year old fisherman from Port Pollensa located on the beautiful Mediterranean island of Majorca in Spain. He comes from a long line of Fisherman in the Paco family, tending to the bounty on the rocky shorelines along the coast. Pictured here, Paquito sits resolute, a reflection of his hard working, purposeful and unwavering approach to work. His hair disheveled but flows perfectly like waves of the sea, his clothes scruffy yet all so perfectly fitting his stereotype. Once work is done and he is often found at the local Taberna, cigarette and Cevas in hand.

He is a jovial and outgoing character, always ready with a joke or a story. He playfully teases his fellow fisherman, referring to them as too ugly to pose for any kind of photo. Paquito has a wife Katrina, when asked about her, he makes the symbol of a noose around his neck and laughs. They have 3 daughters, all of whom have left home now, they have 3 Grandchildren from two of their daughters but Paquito is hopeful for a 4th from his youngest.

Paquito’ a simple and hard working life is wholesome, he is proud and his desires do not exist to better his own life but for those of his community and those he loves.
